I'd be really pissed but I don't think there's any chance of that. It's a different sort of show, because it's building to a climax more than the Sopranos. It's designed for a dramatic resolution.

One rather upsetting development has been Hank's ascension at the DEA. I mean, he's gone from a seemingly barely-competent loudmouth to the head honcho. I realize that happens in life, but it seems like it happened merely to set up a final confrontation.

Breaking Bad. It's in the title. Walt would seem to be uncorruptable at the beginning of this show, and now look at him.

It's not out of the realm of possiblity.

You thought he was barely competent? I got the impression that he was one of the best. After all, he got a promotion earlier during the Tortuga business. He has amazing instincts, and a dogged personality. I always thought he was kind of seen as a badass, if somewhat annoying and over the top, by his colleagues.

That was the impression I got, too. I never felt like he was painted as incompetent.

Probably that because of what a mess he was after the explosion that killed the rest of his team.

can someone explain to me if the scene where Hank had a panic attack in the elevator was more than him just having a moment attack? That was kinda a wierd part.

More interesting to me is Hank figuring out he was shot because of Walt, not just finding out that Walt is behind the blue meth...

This. He was cocky for a reason. He was really good at what he did. Then he had his confidence (and his body) broken. He's just now getting both back.

I could certainly be wrong. However, I didn't get the promotion. He only survived due to his not being able to handle the "head."

Well, he was the only one really pushing for the investigation of Gus. The rest of them kind of acted like he was nuts. It was even the reason the one guy had to step down, right? Because they had let Gus be inside the department so long?
