I really can't choose if I'm basing it on taste. Both are outstanding. Oklahoma Joes is the better deal though. I have no idea why they don't just double their prices. I would if I was them. Alot of ppl don't like Jack Stack because it's not in a barn with rickety tin for a ceiling, doesn't mean it's not good bbq though.

Here's the website for Rosedale. Read about the business history, it's pretty interesting stuff:

I didn't see any mention of the 55 gallon drums of bland they must use on their BBQ. I'm sure they are there but didn't see them mentioned on the website.

I'd like to say that Jack Stack restaurant in KC has a very interesting story over on Wiki - these folks failed the first time - Love a success story like that - Additionally - It wasn't bad - please don't misunderstand - but it's a far cry from the true representation you'd like to see out of KC.

I'd put the Triple Decker on Wonder white from Gates up against anything, I've tried. I'd say it's up there w/ the Pastrami w/ provolone from Carnegie - that's how good that sandwich really is.

Danny Edwards has a lower profile in KC, mostly because it's only open from 11-3pm. They don't do dinner, which is weird. That's a hold over from it's roots. Originally Danny Edwards was downtown in a dinky little building where the Sprint Center is now. They had limited limited limited seating, so their motto was "Eat it and Beat it." Now they're located on SW Blvd right next to Ponak's. Their sauce is a dark red, almost coffee colored, and is very good.

The best thing about Zarda BBQ is they have a drive thru window. Otherwise, their food is a step below the top notch places. There's a lot of "second tier" bbq joints in KC that are OK to not so good. I'd say places like Smokehouse, Haywood's Pit BBQ, Benny's BBQ, Earl Quicks, Wyandotte BBQ, Bates City BBQ, and of course the chains like Rib Crib, Bandana's and Famous Dave's. I don't know why they even opened stores in KC....
I think Quicks shut down. It was locked up on a Saturday at lunch the last time I swung by. It's about a 5 minute drive from where I live so I should probably run by here some time soon and confirm this.
