It's easy to say they gave away the store when no one has access to any information related to the negotiations. Magically, in the absence of facts, everyone sees something that fits their preconceived notions.

Well...it seems he wasn't gonna agree to what KC was offering (which I have to believe from their past history of negotiating deals that he was offered quite a bit. We haven't exactly gotten any free agents for cheap since Dorsey got here. Everyone has been overpaid IMO) so this might be the best way to get him signed to a fair market long term deal.

Let the market decide what he's worth and if it's not what they are willing to spend, we at least get something for letting him leave.

All in all, I think this was a well thought out decision

It looks as if Green Bay and the Eagles are taking a different approach with their WRs.

Quote:
At this point, it appears Dez Bryant & Demaryius Thomas will be the only WRs franchise tags. Not Jeremy Maclin, not Randall Cobb.

Lots of Eric Fishers and Dee Fords out there we could stock up on, though.

So we can use the exclusive tag on Hudson? The Chiefs value Hudson more than Houston? I don't get all this is it we dont know what his value is so we will let the market determine and match? This seen colossal stupid.

Remember last year when everybody said some team would sign Jimmy Graham to an offer sheet and then no one did? Same situation. I bet no one signs Houston. I bet no one signs Demaryius Thomas and I bet no one signs Dez Bryant. It just doesn't happen.

I don't think any team will give two 1st round picks for an OLB. Would any of you guys do that? I mean giving two 1st round picks so you can pay an OLB a team handicapping contract.

Houston is far more valuable.

You build offenses around franchise quarterbacks and you build defenses around elite pass rushers.

I say this in every JH thread, but I'm confused why people think he could have signed last year. What leverage did he have? Even if he had a 12-14 sack season instead of 22, he would still get a larger contract now than he would have gotten last year just by the virtue of him being a free agent.
Because they were in negotiations, dude.

That means the sides talked about a deal. They were just far apart, that's all.
