With the DayZ standalone playable alpha release looming, I thought I would check out the mod version of the game. http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/

If you dont know, DayZ is an open world survival zombie game modification based off of the military sim ArmA 2 games. www.dayzmod.com

Basically its hardcore mode survival against zombies and even more dangerous, other players.

I have been watching vids for months and took advantage of a steam sale today to pick up ArmA 2.

Anyone playing DayZ right now? Servers? Thoughts? I have a teamspeak we can use!

Fell into a bunker in the middle of the woods and broke my leg... and I have no idea where on the map I am.

I can't climb out of the bunker because I can't climb stairs so I am trapped. I can't respawn at will as my character has to die within the game before I can start over.

I've got the game running in the background just waiting for my guy to starve or die of thirst... all so I can go get killed again. LOL

It took 4 hours but I finally died. Now I'm at the airfield east of Balota stocking back up on goodies.

LOL... I'm new to steam... haven't seen any messages. I'll look when I get home.

I've got both a M4A1 with ACOG sights. That said, my handguard and buttstock are in bad shape. I take it that the worse off the parts off, the more dispersion there will be on my long distance shots?

What is the point of suppressors if they don't actually suppress? I shot a Zombie and the noise brought down 7 more. I switched to my garden hoe and spun in circles whacking away until I was in the clear.

I'm staying at the SWAF and just switching servers until I get all the things I want on the M4 and in pristine condition.

The game is still Alpha, stuff like the suppressor working properly will take time.

Server hopping is frowned upon.


But we all do it :P


Eventually when spawning is fixed we wont have too. But yes you have it, the more damaged parts you have the more your accuracy is diminished.

As for the suppressor, they don't suppress yet but I believe they still reduce recoil.

I wanna hook up with you guys again. I've been killed enough times by randoms and Zeds that I have some aggression and torment of my own to dish out.

I'm looking to find some handcuffs and some goodies to flat torture people. I want to catch someone and just do terrible things to them until they log off or die.
