Mock (3/11/13)

Assumptions:

1. The Chiefs cut Cassel.

2. The Chiefs retain Glenn Dorsey. (So weird to say that.)

3. They get one compensatory pick, an extra third (Carr).

4. The Chiefs try furiously to trade down, but there are no takers.

On with the show:

1. OT Luke Joeckel, Texas A&M

Bad Guy said it himself, this is most likely going to be the pick.

3. QB Tyler Bray, Tennessee

Bray shares a lot of characteristics with Nick Foles, who also fell deeper i the draft than most expected.

3. OLB Jamie Collins, Southern Miss

Some much needed passrushing depth.

4. ILB Jonathan Bostic, Florida

A bit overrated by some of this board, but there's no doubt he's a heavy hitter who's a natural in the Sam role.

5. WR Kenny Stills, Oklahoma

Too fast and too good at finding soft spots in coverage for us to pass on him here.

6. ILB Steve Beauharnais, Rutgers

More depth, sorely needed.

7. NT Gilbert Pena, Mississippi

Some more size just to make sure we have the meat we need in the middle.

I still just can NOT wrap my mind around the thought of us taking a right tackle with the first overall, no matter how much sense it makes for this team right now.

I'd love to see a breakdown in the difference between teams that take linemen first overall versus teams that take playmakers first overall.

Pleasepleaseplease give us Cherilus or Loadholt in free agency.

And I know nothing of the Rutgers wideout. Would it be wiser to take defensive backfield help there, even knowing how thin we are at receiver?

I am desperately awaiting news that Albert has signed a long-term deal, because that would make a tackle at 1.1 a silly pick. Getting a free agent RT wouldn't hurt either, but there's always the chance that they like Allen or Stephenson at that spot.

If we have to pick #1 I don't want to see anyone besides Geno Smith, Dee Milliner or a pass rusher for the DL and I'm not convinced that's Floyd.

Well Steve Beauharnais is actually a linebacker.

If you want to take DB help there, that's fine.

I just think we can largely ignore DB and get away with it this year. Our LB corps, by comparison, has zero depth.

I'm hoping for Geno Smith 1st.....and if not him....****ing trade the hell down. We're going to get ****ed on value....but I'd rather do that than take a ****ing RT.

Gonna have to hope someone falls completely in love with someone, though.

Pick up Xavier Nixon or Jordan Mills later to play RT or simply use one of the 2 we already drafted.

Albert signing a deal seems to be our last hope, sadly.

Other than Bostic...blech.

I think I'll wait and see what tomorrow's Mock (3/12/13) holds for us.

You know, just an idea, but you could do one mock and just update that one versus a new posting every day...

Just sayin'.
