From NFL.COM / Chiefs select Manuel

Sorry for the bad news.

Chiefs go with Luke Joeckel
Despite speculation the Chiefs will go with Geno Smith, they end up with the Texas A&M left tackle. But don't breathe a sigh of relief, Matt Cassel. The Chiefs will find their QB in the second round with E.J. Manuel (who certainly won't mind playing for Andy Reid). In case you're wondering, the Cardinals don't draft Smith (he goes No. 8 to Buffalo), and the Birds end up with Matt Barkley in the second round.

And to all these dumb ass so called experts there's no difference in going 8 or 1. If we hit on the QB then that's far greater than a great LT

Sam Munson from PFF was on 610 today and just shredded the whole "needing to draft a LT with a top pick" idea and agreed with most of us that that position isn't nearly as important as QB.

The rewards of a great QB are so much greater. Take joe Montana vs Willie roaf for instance. The greatest QB vs LT. Ill take Montana over Roaf. We have a good LT who only gave up 1 sack in 750 snaps. I don't understand all the hate on Albert my only concern is his back because back injuries linger and are usually chronic

Yeah, but just consider what our record would have been had that been zero?

If we dump Albert for joeckel and Alberts back is fine that is the single most dumb decision

We would have made zero progress with the 1st overall pick. Just replaced a guy we lost in FA. As for ranking the Chiefs dumbest decisions, it's a pretty difficult field to handicap. Lots of contenders.

I might be the only one thats liked Manuel. Now id be ok with he at. 34 and packaging 1 to the rams for 16 and 22. I want Geno though. But if Manuel's our guy that's a trade I'd try and do

Exactly! I'd rather ****ing take the best rush linebacker number 1. He's have more of an impact and tamba is getting old I'd do that and package tamba to get back into rd 1 for a QB

You aren't the only one. I actually wouldn't be furious with the guy in certain conditions. Thing is the situation the Chiefs are in is not one of those conditions. In a situation where we had won the Manning sweepstakes I would like Manuel, or if we didn't have a pick till the 2nd round. We have the 1st overall pick though. I'm not looking to get cute and pick up picks and still get a QB I like. I'm looking to get the best QB I see out there.

I like his size and ability to run if need be. Not be a run first QB. He shows good accuracy and touch just needs more consistency and coaching/development which Reid will do. I loved what I seen from him in the bowl game and senior bowl. I have Geno 1, Manuel 2, Wilson 3, Barkely 4, Glennon. 5 and Nassib 6

I'm not a fan of signing a vet to start but **** it let Alex smith or Vick go for a year. But I'd like Vick because hell get hurt and force Manuel to play and that's the only way you know if you got a good QB is playing time

The only good thing about picking Manuel would be the endless fawlty towers jokes.

If you would want Vick to get hurt why bring him in to begin with? I don't want either of them. We are in a position to get a guy that we should start right away. I have Geno then Wilson. Barkley would probably be third. After that I don't know. Glennon is a pretty big boom or bust IMO and while I think Manuel has potential he is a work in progress, just like Bray would be. We don't need, nor should we try, to go down that road when we have our choice at any QB.
