Here you go Chiefs fans, Lamar Hunt is opening Royals stadium for the Monday Night game against Seattle. He has permission from the NFL to broadcast the game over the tron in the stadium. Admission is $10 per person, parking is the normal price.

They are doing this under the ruse that they wish to break the single game/one location attendance record of 90,000 plus. Horsesh&*T!

They want the $$$ that it will generate. Does this leave any doubt that this franchise is more interested in filling seats than it is in producing a superior product?

MR Hunt-You have done nothing for the city of KC that hasn't benefited you 1000 fold! It's time to buck up and give back to the city what you have taken from it......try to break the single season wins record of 14-0 held by the 1972 Dolphins, that is a record worth breaking!!!!

This is truly terrible timing. The Chiefs coaching looks contemptible. The team itself is trying to get its act together. The organization has had many black eyes during the off-season and a potential 0-4 Chiefs may be facing a potential 1-3 (I assume Seattle cannot lose to New Orleans) during a Monday night game. Those things alone should be plenty of fodder for the MNF crew to ridicule the game, but then we add this publicity debacle of a simulcast next door at Kaufmann. Now if the fans want to come on and talk about CP and LH greed, how do we argue.

This is truly sad.

Kurt,

No offense, but how do you break the single season record of 16-0, tie it sure, but break it?

Luz,

I think I kind of understand where Kurt is coming from. Many of us, and I probably count myself in this group, are somewhat suspicious of Mr. Hunt's or Carl Peterson's main motivations, i.e. winning a championship or filling seats. Now we are watching what seems like our team disentegrating before our eyes, and what do get from the owner? Another money making scheme.

I'm not saying that's a fair assesment of Mr. Hunt's motivations, but it's just kind of coming at a bad time for some of us, who were already suspicious.

You have to consider that the thing was signed off on in July. At that time Carl and Lamar were probably assuming we'd be a good team, and it would be a big game. And it still wll be if we run off a few wins and right the ship. Of course news of it coming out right now in the wake of this week and how things look do not make it look good. Everyone tries to make money in this league. I think it is a nice idea in terms of Lamar wanting to put KC in the record books for having the largest crowd to watch a game. The final goal however is always to win. I'm sure if you went back and told Lamar if he could trade this event for a Chiefs win, he'd take the win. I have a sense he wanted both. Unfortunately, it may not happen that way...

I agree Wolf and that's why I kind of had a measured response. Just by sheer bad luck, the timing of the announcement kind of sucked.

They could have postponed the idea and kept their mouths shut. Allowance by the league did not bind their hand to push on with this bad idea (at least timing wise)

The '72 Dolphins didn't go 16-0, they went 14-0. They only played fourteen games in the regular season back then. If you count the playoffs and Superbowl, they went 17-0.<P>

Cannibal,

That is true, but I actually was just responding to his statement of breaking the record at 16-0. I did not look up the record, he said 16-0 and for the Dolphins not me.

Kurt - While I agree that I would not pay 10.00 a pop to sit next door, I sincerely doubt that Lamar needs the money. Hunt will make 4 bucks a ticket for 25,000 people - profit. That is a mere 100,000. His worth is well over 600 million.... a hundred thousand doesn't mean diddly to him.

Kurt, while I value your opinion, I truly believe that you listen to a certain radio station way too much. They are influencing your words.

This is a man who is attempting to push up the value of morale. Whether it is right or wrong is a different issue. But there is nothing wrong in him doing this.

You of all people understand a fair market. If the people want it, he has a right to sell it. If they don't, then he won't achieve his goal.

Russ- I agree with nearly everything you say. That is why if Lamars REAL motivation was to break the record he would make the admission free. Simple as that. If it doesn't mean diddly to him, make it free.

In regard to 810, I listen a max of 30 min/day, average it out, it is much less than that. Frankly I am the one that is responsible for my opinions, not JW or KK. In my view they are much too kind to this organization.

Who the hell is going to pay to watch two bad teams with two rotten QBs battle for last place in the worst division in football on a JUMBOTRON!

Russ, Luzap, you guys going?

What they ought to do is give a drug screen to anyone who enters Kaufmann stadium.

I told you guys two years ago that this organization was more concerned about the almighty dollar and less concerned about winning.

Who cares about that stupid record? What I want if the ongoing streak of seven years without a playoff victory snapped. Thats all I care about.

Cannibal - While Lamar tries to break the record (A bogus one I admit), in GB they can't even get enough votes to update the dilapidated cheese factory. Some opinions aren't even worth addressing.
