A plan. A poll.

The past few days have led to some serious debate and discussion about the usefullness and/or effect of the subforums here at Chiefsplanet. Most of the people who are against the subforums are taking a "baby step" mentality. (IE: Put a link to DC at the top of the page, and get rid of Music/Geeks). For my own part, I'd like to see them all moved back to the lounge. Most people say this would lead to utter chaos, and ruin the board. Why don't we find out. Let's put our money where our mouth is...

Here is what I propose:

1. Merge all of the subforums back into the lounge for two weeks, as a trial period.

2. Keep the Romper Room for threads that moderators have decided are getting out of hand.

After two weeks, take a poll. "Is this board more fun now"
Yes
No

Depending on the results of the trail, and the subsequent poll, we all might be able to come up with a nice comprimise. Perhaps it will become clear that the way we had it is perfect. Perhaps it will just become clear that we need to take away one or two people's rights to post new threads or something. Either way, I think we'll have the appropriate information, instead of just guessing what would happen.

Political threads have no place in the lounge, especially during football season.

You can't do that. I don't know why you keep saying that you can.

I think this would have a better chance if you'd have excluded D.C., fwiw.

Holy crap... I just went to do it, and it's POSTS/THREAD. Not THREADS/PAGE.

Sorry.

Is there a way to add a THREADS/PAGE option, or is it just impossible with V-Bulletin code?

I just wanted to see what everybody would think of a full blown approach first. Give it a shot. Shoot for the moon. Maybe people will think, "Ah what the hell, the old timers seem to like it, maybe they're on to something?" Then it'll pass, and it'll be great. The mods will keep the crazy political threads in check by moving them to the romper room, and sunshine will come out of my ass, because everybody will be SUPER happy!

If this gets voted down. There is no reason why somebody can't try a "baby step" approach. And maybe my ass will be just partly cloudy, but still good enough for a picnic...

VARSITY
Exclude the following:

D.C.
Romper Room
Hall of Classics
Archives
Pictures
Tickets for sale/wanted

All others belong in the lounge. I cannot believe we actually have NFL Draft discussion out of the main forum now. Was NFL talk spamming up the main forum or something?

Nope...

Any plan that includes merging the DC Forum with the Lounge is a bad plan.

As for the other Forums, I am ambivalent.

I believe that the Pictures and DC are best kept separate from the Lounge.

If there is one subforum that should NEVER be merged back with the Lounge, it's DC.

I fully admit that keeping just one or two subforums might be necessary, but really, why not try it for a bit?

What-s-a-matter McFly?... Chicken?...

Really, the worst that could happen is that it really sucks and we decide that one or more of the subforums need to be reintigrated. But I know that a good number of people like the occaisional political debate, and as long as the mods keep the really crazy "bush lied, people died" spite filled, rhetoric stuff that only 3 people want to see or debate, in the ROMPER ROOM... Then I think we'll be smooth sailing.

Nope. I'm with Gaz.....links to Pics, DC, and one or two others (Geeks and Music; and the Draft Forum in March and April) subforums at the top....is still the way to go.

Too much garbage (mostly DC), and those music-tech-draft threads get lost too soon.....otherwise. JMHO.
