What is your "prized possession"?

During the discussion on the DC board there was a debate on whether you should be able to kill someone stealing your stuff. I won't get back to that but I did want to know: what is your #1 possession you own? I.e., what would you walk through fire to retrieve?

I can honestly say I don't even have one. I wouldn't care if my house burnt down. I really changed many years ago when I had my first child. At that point I didn't give a squirt about anything I owned. Truth.

The closest thing I have would be my ball glove given to me by my dad when I was 7. It was autographed by Catfish Hunter (for those who don't remember he was good in the 70s). Maybe it will take on greater significance when my dad passes since he's quite old now.

Anyway here's a photo of the model:

I've got a Marcus Allen signed hat from 1993 in my garage somewhere. Is something like that worthy anything?

Probably not if you can't authenticate it. I also have a hat Marcus signed for me in person, but since nobody took a picture of him signing it, it's probably worthless. Which is ironic, since it's one of the few I actually got in person and know is 100% legit.

It's definitely not Stram's.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's not like Allen's autograph is chopped liver or anything.

James Spence or PSA/DNA will authenticate it (if its real) for a fee. And they are both pretty legit.

Maybe scratch the Spence recommendation. Seems like there are some questions surrounding them. PSA seems to still be good. Doubt any organization is going to be 100% though.

No bubble bursting, Marcus is one of the ones I've always wanted, but I still had time to get his. Coach not so much.

I appreciate the info!!!I would have went on forever thinking it was Coach Stram.

Thanks, but I'd never sell it anyway (actually promised Marcus that when he signed it), and since I already know it's real, that doesn't matter.

I have three autographs that I got in person - Allen, Eddie Kennison and Ginger Lynn. I have one that is personalized and was directly got for me by one of my bosses (Montana). Of the rest, several are almost certainly legit, but some.... who knows? Considering the high number of frauds out there, I have to assume that even though all my stuff is "authenticated" in some way and I always scrutinize stuff before I buy it, some of it is bound to be fake.

When we drafted Tony Gonzalez, before he ever played a game, he was supposed to come to a Price Chopper near our house to sign autographs. I was 12 or so at the time. We waited in line for quite a while wondering what the hold up was because no one was there signing anything.

It turned out he wasn't able to make it because he got lost or something like that. Who knows why he didn't actually show. Obviously at the time it wasn't that big of a deal since it was just a rookie that had never even played a game yet, so I am sure no one really gave it a second thought.

Once they realized he wasn't going to make it they sent Donnie Edwards out to us instead. So instead of a Tony Gonzalez rookie autograph I got a Donnie Edwards autograph on a mini Chiefs helmet. Then shortly thereafter, a year or so I guess, we proceeded to really destroy what little value it had by having Elvis Grbac sign it. Oh what could have been.

I have the same dilema. I have some great signed baseballs from when I was a buyer for a athletic shoe store. Mantle, Mays, Williams, Snider...just to name a few. I probably have 20 HOF'ers signatures on baseballs, pictures and 3x5 cards, but none have COA's.
