The "Daily Show" tree has been all over this.

Jon Stewart, Jon Oliver, Larry Wilmore, and Lewis Black have properly bashed the NCAA. The rest of the media need to catch up.

This was good but John Oliver's bit about FIFA and the World Cup from last year was better.

Bash them for what? The only thing that bothers me is a kid can't make money off of his own name. I don't think they should be paid, but I don't think they should be prohibited from making money from signing things, appearances, selling things that they won (rings, trophies etc)

Other that that, how is it the NCAA's fault that the NBA imposes an age limit? If you don't want to get paid, don't play in the ****ing NCAA. Do what Emmaneul Muddiay did, go play in China, or Europe. Don't give me this shit that the NCAA is taking advantage of these kids, these kids are getting free promotion that money can't buy. Deal with it or don't ****ing play. You signed up for it, nobody is making you do shit. It's not the NCAA's fault that the NBA doesn't want to put money into a minor league.

If ANYTHING the NCAA gets screwed. They get faced with the difficult task of governing the league where one-and-dones don't really have any intention of going to class. They can't tell kids they can't come to college. They have to run the NBA minor league, for the NBA, for free.

I think you stated this in another thread and I pointed out how it creates an advantage for rich colleges and should not be allowed. If they can make money off of something like that there is nothing stopping a booster from giving them $50,000 for a signature or whatever the going rate is to get them to come to a college. It would create to much of an advantage for schools with deep pockets.

The only thing I think should change is if you get an injury there is no way you can lose your scholarship and you should be able to eat and drink as much as you can stuff in your face.

I would love for the NCAA to be no more, the Top 96 schools could form their own union, have their own tournament, and not get dicked by the NCAA. College basketball revenue would then become a more and more important revenue stream, as it is with NCAA Football because the NCAA can't steal the money from the bowl games and BCS Playoff system like they can for the NCAA Tournament.

Cap it at $50,000 then, tax it, the end. Thats all you have to do and all of this shit works itself out.

If you wanted an idea of what it would look like without the current infrastructure, take a look at minor league baseball. I know one thing...no one gives a damn about the Triple A, Double A, Single A championships.

But, yeah...blow up the system. Eliminate collegiate athletics and then we just need the tut tutters to invest in creating these minor league systems and hope that people take an interest.

Who knows, maybe it will work...I doubt it, but at least we wouldnt be exploiting these poor kids.
