if they thought geno, or barkley were future franchise qbs, they could easily still draft him at one, and have alex smith. You filled a crap ton of holes with free agency, and there are more than just the first and second picks of a draft.

Them trading for alex smith, while it might of had something to do with the quality of qbs THEY DEEMED in this draft, it wasnt the overriding factor. The fact is that dorsey, and reid, dont see a franchise qb in this draft.......

Its a known fact. New leadership, loves their OWN qb, not someones retread. They didnt like the qbs......
