Tenn. RB Alvin Kamara - me likey

Love this dude's vision, and ability to catch out of the backfield. Kinda reminds me of LeSean.

If we go QB in R1, I would be happy with him in the 2nd, preferably 3rd if he's still around.

Would be a nice upgrade from West.

If he's somehow still there in the 2nd, I think we'd run to the ****ing podium.

Serious question: is there a scenario where you take him at #27?

Of the QB's, let's assume there's only 2 or 3 that the Chiefs deem worthy, and all are gone.

The 2-3 stud LB's are gone.

The top 3 WR's are gone.

The top 5 Edge guys are gone.

The top 5 DB's are gone.

The top 3 RB's are gone.

The top 4 OL are gone.

The top NTs are gone.

If that all goes down, is he an option?

Not a chance I'm taking Kamara in round 1, and I don't know that I'd do it in 2. Hell, there's guys I think are just as talented you get in the 4th-6th.

I doubt they take him or any RB in the first, based on nothing less than Dorsey and Reid, combined, have never taken a RB in the first.

But yeah, he's worth a hard look in the 2nd.

He's the only guy in the draft that I'd really want the Chiefs to take.

Any of the guys above him on the board would require 1st rounders to get and I'm not interested. Any of the guys behind him aren't legitimate difference makers but rather change of pace guys with notable flaws.

Kamara could be a 3-down force. He's a very good back and if he's there in the 2nd, I'd be elated to grab him.

No.

I'd take Sidney Jones in the first and redshirt him before I'd take Kamara inthe first.

I do not want to spend a 1st rounder on a RB; the financial advantage just isn't there. RBs aren't getting good 2nd contracts so there benefit of having one with 5 years of control is marginal at best.

Meanwhile, if I can get someone like Jones and in the process stay out of the FA cornerback market for the next 3-4 years, I can pocket at least $8 million in cap space because of it.

Opportunity cost is a big factor in the first round, IMO; you have to factor in financial incentives rather than just talent due to being in a cap league. It's why in the past I wouldn't have wanted to take a Guard. Now Guards are getting paid like tackles so I'd be willing to re-visit that stance.

But RBs remain flat on the market so why bother using a 1st to get one if you can just give Latavius Murray $3 million w/ a series of options that would total 3 yrs, $15 million if he hit all the escalators. RBs are largely fungible and cheap as hell - I wouldn't use a 1st rounder on one unless we're talking AP and if it's AP, he's gone in the top 5 (where we won't be drafting and should be taking a QB anyway).

Would you trade up for him in the 2nd?

Cost?

If it's a 5th, probably.

I don't put much value on anything past the 4th round; they're all lotto tickets that are only marginally more likely to succeed than just signing 5 extra UDFAs and keeping the one that plays the best in camp.

Sure, there's Tyreek Hill, but lets not forget that we took Hogan ahead of him. This front office tends to do a better job than most with late round picks, but they also tend to do a better job than most with scrap-heap veterans and UDFAs. They're just a good coaching staff that can get contributions from a lot of different places.

So with a tight roster and a bunch of picks anyway, I'd be fine moving up 5 or 6 spots but any more than that is just a little to steep in a draft that seems to have little drop off from about the 20th best prospect to the 8th best prospect.

Like I said in the mock thread - this is a scouts draft through and through. Gamesmanship isn't going to 'win' this draft - sorting through a bunch of similarly (very) talented guys to separate the wheat from the chaff will give a good scouting department a chance to make huge strides. There are going to be several good starters coming from the 3rd and 4th rounds in this draft. I have faith in the front office making the right calls and getting the most from that draft capital.

I agree with DJ here about RB. I would love Cook or Kamara or Micon, but we have a nice young guy in Ware who was good last season. I'm also wondering if it would be a complete waste of resources to draft one early due to the fact that Andy won't even use them that much.

The more I think about it, the more I see the Chiefs want to find a QB then bolster the hell out of a really good defense.

I really don't understand the fascination with this guy to be honest. If you like him, you should equally like, South Florida's Marlon Mack, UTEP's' Aaron Jones, Boise State's Jeremy McNichols, and even Wisconsin's Dare Ogunbowale. All are slated to go at least 2 rounds later than Kamara. Some just get caught up on the SEC thing I guess?

Mack doesn't do it for me. Jones is okay, Kamara is better. Haven't watched the other two, but will. Thanks for putting on my radar!

The good news is, the Chiefs could even wait til round 5 to grab a RB, and still get a good player at the position. This RB class is loaded.

Tenn. RB Alvin Kamara - me likey

Just watched the Sports Science on him.

Kamara & Cook are the perfect sized RB's.

Athletic Freak

45" max vert - record breaker
6' 1/4" - high jump broke Peterson's record.

Measurable scores:
Kamara 90.6
Cook 90.0
