Laptop purchase advise

I am looking to buy a laptop for $500. It will be used for internet, some business, and a few games such as Half-Life 2, Dead Rising, etc.

I wouldn't mind getting a 14" since I fly people around from time-to-time, but a 15.6" will work, too.

Thanks, you guys are awesome.

Intel i3 2.3 Ghz
8gb ram
640 gb drive
Intel graphics card (is this good enough?)

$499 no tax

Is this good by today's standards?

Bumping this thread for some advice.

I am looking for a laptop for $500-700 that won't be worthless in 3 years. Mostly I use my laptop for writing and surfing, but I would like to play a game like Civ Beyond Earth without trouble. I sort of want to buy from Best Buy so that I can get their replacement plan.

I've been looking online at NewEgg, BB, TigerDirect, and various other places. I don't mind much if I get a refurbished unit either, but I am overwhelmed by all the options and really need sound advice from people that actually know something.

Thanks.

Consider going in to the Microsoft store. The laptops they sell have no crapware and don't stock crap.

I never would have thought of that. Thanks!

Can anybody give me an opinion on this 2-in-1? I would get it without office, plus 10% discount.
