He sucked donkey balls as an NFL head coach and went back to doing what he was great at: being a college head coach.

This is the exact opposite of what Weis is doing.

So you're saying that since these aren't comparable KU is a program that could get top talent like Saban?
Of course not. But you could hire a coach that is actually a good college head coach.

Look Saban was good, then he sucked, then Bama hired him. Weis had some success, sucked bawls, then came to KU. Saban is obviously a more successful college coach, but we couldn't ever get anyone like that. Weis is a similar step down in talent about as much as KU is a step down in program clout from Alabama.
Saban = great college head coach

Weis = great NFL coordinator

I don't see the comparison at all other than they are both name coaches.

OK Genious. Tell me what big name KU could hire that KU actually has a legit shot at landing that would be a big enough name to make waves. The only one I could think of would be Leach.

Point is, he's had success and knows football. We're never going to get a GREAT college coach on much of any level to come to KU.

Why will Weis's success as an NFL coordinator equal success at a much worse football program than these two similar examples?
Point taken.

However impact and success are two different things.

Weis is a bigger name then both those other guys. Not just literally.

$$$$$$$$

Has anyone else interviewed him or even discussed him for a head coaching job?

Yeah he's fat and it is funny that ku hired another obese coach, but I think non-Mizzou and KSU fans are mocking the hire more because he is a shitty head coach and failed at Notre Dame despite having some of the best recruits in the country.

When I think of a hire making waves, it is typically because it is a great hire, not just a well-known commodity. Nick Saban made waves. Bobby Petrino made waves. This hire gets ku's name in the press for a day or two, but doesn't scare any Big 12 coaches.
no one has had success at Notre Dame in 20 years.

Not sure where you're getting the "mocking".

The man took the Chiefs to the playoffs pretty much single-handedly last year with one of the worst QBs in the league.

Not to mention his success at New England. Come on dude

Mocked when we bring up proven, successful head coaches/coordinators because there's no way they would coach at KU, then mocked when they don't hire a proven, successful head coach/coordinator.

Brilliant.

What makes you so sure he won't up and quit after 1 year, giving no inication that he was even looking elsewhere, again.

Obviously it isn't about money.
Those weren't head coaching positions would be my first guess on what is different.

Its more like:

Mocked for all the people talking about Leach being the guy to the extent that people greeted some random family at the airport returning from vacation because they thought Leach was on the plane.

Mocked for losing Leach to Washington State.

Mocked when we were proven right about Kansas getting a third-rate head coach.

Mocked when poster compares said coach to Nick Saban.

It's also all perspective. Callahan was considered a failure (wasn't a massive failure) because he was winning 7-8 games a year at Nebraska. That same recored at KU would be celebrated . He'd have to eventually improve on that, but I'd take 7 wins a season for a few years.

lol, I'm much happier with Weis without coaching one game then I would be with losing to Navy and Iowa with half their players.
