The organization talking about a new coach and Gunny hasn't even been notified yet of his firing?

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. What a dirty business. Jerry Jones kinda did Jimmy J. that way when he brought in Six Gun Switzer. The Crackwagon in Big D. even dicked Tom Landry.

Remember a reporter asking Landry on the golf course to react to his firing and Tom said something like, "I didn't know I was fired." Some classless CEO's do indeed exist in the NFL.

It's obvious now Vermeil was "run" by the Rams. I didn't believe it before, or wasn't sure, but it's a slam dunk now. He didn't *want* to go.

If Gunther didn't know, why did he not show up for work today. He has two years of pay left on his contract, and if they told him to keep quiet, for about 1.5 mil, I am sure he will.

Gunther has to much pride for that...he can make money as a DC somewhere else!

For those of you who don't believe it,there's more to this hiring of Gunther than meets the eye, likewise the firing too!

This is a perfect example of why the Chiefs never get over the hump.

Stevieray,

I agree. Carl is handling this coaching sitution the same way he handles his first round draft picks. The Chiefs are absolutley nuts to give up a 1st and a 4th for Vermeil.

Chiefs should go get a young assistant from a winning organization. The Vermeil band aid costs to much.

I agree that the change was needed. But I also think that players win games and not coaches. I will repeat here what I posted in another thread.

1. Az Hakim
2. Torry Holt
3. Isaac Bruce
4. Marshal Faulk
5. Kurt Warner
6. Ricky Proehl

Vermeil and Sanders had a LOT of talent and speed in Saint Louis. You gotta have talent to win.The players win games and I don't believe there is a coach worth surrendering high draft picks to sign. My .02.

Red and Gold,

Certainly not Dick Vermeil. I agree that players win games. The Chiefs have to many weak spots to give up high draft picks for a 64 year old head coach who only a year ago, suffered burnout. Thats not how you win. Carl wants another "yes man" that can bring dicipline to the Chiefs. Vermeil fits that mold. But a Super Bowl?? Forget it. Cap problems, Carl Peterson, and lack of talent will prevent this team from going.

Another thing to ponder is that Vermeil wanted players such as Curtis Enis, Cade McNown and Lawrence Phillips. His record was very bad prior to the arrival of players mentioned in my previous post. I think I would like the coach from Washington or some young guy( Davis from Miami or Stoops) better.

Don't you mean "would be", Ken? They haven't given up anything yet, and I'd be very surprised to see Carl give up a 1st rounder.

As for Vermiel suffering burnout, where the hell did you hear that? I have never read that anywhere. Phili yes, StL no. He wanted to go out on top, that's it.

And do you consider your friends yes men? I doubt it. Carl and Vermiel are friends who have worked together and have had success together. Saying Vermiel is a yes man is ridiculous. <BR>
