Very well could be as simple as needing a new fuel filter, also put some Lucas (for trans) in the tranny.

I'd start with new spark plugs and wires.

My thoughts exactly. I got a 96 buick lesabre with 100k miles on it that we use as a second grocery getter and to haul kids around in. It recently started acting up at higher rpms. I changed plugs and wires, just the standard ones, for maybe $30, and now she runs like a top again.

Indeed, wires, plugs, fuel filter. Before doing that, suck in a can of Sea Foam in an intake using a vaccum line, let it for two hours, start, let it smoke like hell as the the Sea Foam does it's magic knocking out all the carbon and then change the plugs. Also add another full can to full tank of gas. If it's carb, also do a cap and rotor. You should be able to get all of it taken care of if you do it yourself, for under $100.00. IF that doesn't work, buy full coverage and push it off a cliff.

I would think it's just not getting enough gas. You'll need to open your hood , remove the air cleaner and pour a 5 gallon jug of gasoline into the carbuerator. Jump in and start it quickly. If it seems a little flooded don't worry just keep cranking the engine. Sometimes after 15 or 20 minutes the battery may start smoking a little, but thats normal. If that doesn't fix the problem I've heard of people sticking tampons in other peoples gas tanks, I think I'd check for that next.

Lucas is worth it's weight in Gold, we have saved many customers a lot of money with Lucas. Make sure to get Lucas Transmission Conditioner they call it "Stop Slip". |

lulz at many posts here. I appreciate the input. It's fuel infected, (ironic typo) and it's got the big V6 in it. It needs a tune up and that's a logical place to start. I'll also look into the Lucas as I'm wondering if it's having a hard time shifting and that is what is making it hesitate and not open further. Thanks guys. I'll let you all know what happens.......Unless it means full coverage and a cliff.
Funny you should mention that Bwana. I had a buddy about 10 years ago with a 944 that he couldn't sell. Interior was ripped apart and no one wanted his price. He drove it up the mountain pass and pushed it off of a cliff. Somehow the dumbass got caught up in his own game and the insurance company said, "Either we don't pay you. Or we're suing you for fraud." At least he can say he pushed a porche off a cliff. Not many people can say that. |
