WTF?
The skinny The Denver Broncos are still paying the price for skirting the league's salary cap rules during the franchise's glory years. This year the team lost their third-round pick in the draft and will pay a $950,000 fine for undisclosed salary agreements made with select players from 1996 to 1998. The Broncos also had to surrender a third-round pick and pay a fine of slightly less than $1 million in 2001 under similar circumstances for contracts that were awarded for former Bronco quarterback John Elway and running back Terrell Davis. |

I've seen people mention that the Broncos 'cheated' back then, but I didn't know that they were punished. |

The skinny
Last November Kansas City area voters struck down a sales-tax proposal that would have provided the bulk of the revenue for a much-needed renovation for antiquated Arrowhead Stadium, which opened in 1972. The Chiefs, who operate the stadium for football games and some non-football events like soccer, need more revenue from suites and club seating to remain among the financial elite in the NFL. Look for wealthy Lamar Hunt to build a new stadium. I'd sure like to know where Forbes gets this Lamar is going to build a new stadium info.......
