Chiefs Mayock on McCluster at the Senior Bowl... - Page 2

I always record the Senior Bowl to watch after the draft to see the players we drafted. This year there are 3. All on the South roster. Arenas, McCluster, and Sheffield.

At the top of the show, Mayock is talking about 3 players that really caught his eye. Wilson from Boise State, Iupati from Idaho, and McCluster. Here is what he said about Mccluster...

"And finally the wow factor. Dexter McCluster, 5-8, 165. He is a lightning rod of opinion, but he is a playmaker at tailback where he will start today. But where he blew me away was at wide receiver. His route running. His hands. You can line him up anywhere you want. And really his only limitations, in my mind, is the creativity of whatever offensive coordinator that is lucky enough to get him."

The kid is a big asset as a playmaker, the biggest knock on him is that he isn't a Linebacker or a Nose Tackle.

I agree, the more I learn about his the more excited I get.

The NFL is all about matchups, and a lineup with McCluster and Charles is going to be fun to watch. I was one of those guys who never appreciated Wes Welker. I wrote him off in Miami because he was 5'9" and 185 lbs. McCluster is 5'9 172

If this guy can run routes and has hands he will see a ton of playing time.

Who would you rather see out there in the slot, Lance Long or this kid?

And both could be the highest bay area selections in next week's draft. "Size always seems to be the topic of discussion," McCluster said. "But it hasn't been an issue lately. It's definitely something that hasn't stopped me yet. "I just want to have an opportunity, and I'm not going to let anyone down once I get that chance." What is sad is people are going to hate on guys likes McCluster and Arenas only because they aren't a ILB or NT. Plain and simple no other reason for it. These two players are elite playmakers, but they are going to be critzied because they don't fix our front seven of the defense to some. It is beyond sad really as these two players could become Chiefs greats with their abilities!
