Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

I don't know why this film is so over looked. I think its a masterpiece. Danny Boyle did incredible work on this one.

As the review says I'm telling you, you must watch this film!

Sunshine was mostly overlooked, but it was a great classic sci-fi film.

I haven't seen it on Blu-Ray... but I'd like to.

I'd say it looks near perfect on bluray... I'd say imo the pixar flicks such as cars, ratatouille, sin city, and I robot are some ive seen that are as perfect as i can imagine. I'd say sunshine has some sweet eye candy, i rented it via netflix just to see it on BR and it doesn't dissapoint.

Here is the PQ Tier for it, it is on tier 1 which is near flawless...according to this board.

This board mentions some movies ive listed above and i agree...if you want the best BR expierence a tier zero and tier 1 are def. the ultimate bluray exp. dvds....

I also look at highdefdigest.com at times for reviews as well

I made the mistake of watching that movie starting at the 2/3rds mark. I really need to track it down and watch the whole thing.

District 9 was good, in fact. They are really different movies. District 9 was a social commentary piece, while Sunshine is not nearly as metaphorical.

I own Sunshine, and while it was a fun movie, I cannot believe the accolades are giving it.

It wasn't great IMO. It was just a fun Sci-Fi Thriller movie.

You didn't like D9? I thought it was a pretty original movie in a genre that tends to get oversaturated with the same old, same old...

From what little I saw of Sunshine, metaphysical might be a better term.

I think it has to do with the movie already having been made under a different name, and the overall moral theme of the movie landing squarely in the Charlton Heston-Zone, ala Omega Man or Solyient Green.

It was kind of a throwback with modern effects.

I haven't watched Sunshine because I heard the ending was kind of crappy. I don't know if that's fair or not.

On a side note, I saw they pushed the Scorcese movie Shutter Island release date back to February 2010. I think it had been originally intended for this month.

As much as I enjoyed Sunshine, the last 15 minutes take an almost horror flick tone. I disagreed with that choice.
