I guess try and contact XBOX. I have heard of people doing that with good results also. It takes about a week to get your new Box. If that doesn't work, did you buy it with a credit card? Maybe contact them and find out what day you bought it and maybe a copy of the purchase. When you find out the date of purchase, does Best Buy keep track of warrenty purchases?

What I'm assuming is I'll get a clean swap.
I DID purchase my 360 with a newly acquired Best Buy credit card. I would assume they'd look up my history. |

Just go buy one at Circuit City and swap out the units and return it...

I have no problems with disc read errors as long as I don't leave discs in the drive.
It happens with just about every game I've ever had. I could play for 8 hours on Saturday with no issues. Leave the disc in overnight. Play for 5 minutes on Sunday and FREEZE. All I do is eject the disc and then put it back in before I play and it works just fine. |

LOL Back in high school, we would buy a game from Babbages at Oak Park Mall for either Sega Genesis/Sega CD/Nintendo/Super Nintendo..beat the game in a week or so, then borrow a family friends shrink wrap machine, wrap the game back up like it was new, go to some other store..like the Software Etc at Metcalf, Childrens Palace at Metcalf etc and say the old line "I got this game as a gift from family and they didnt keep the receipt, can we exchange this for a different game?" Worked everytime We did this for several years When the Sega Genesis broke on us, we bought a new one from Childrens Palace, swapped out the old broken Genesis, and got our money back with the "We arent a fan of sega products." Unfortunately the sales guy was the same guy we traded a few games in a week before and he noticed us. THe transaction was approved though and we didnt go back for a few months. |

I give up with my 360.
Today, I decided to try and play my GoW - first time in weeks. Well, I get it started anxiously awaiting to join a game, I join one and then the screen - "disc read error. Please wipe off the disc with a cloth or try www.xbox.com/support, blah blah blah suck a dick, suck a dick." So, I say "F that" and decide to play some CH2K7 which has had been messing up every now and then lately. I played for 20 minutes or so and it stops working, ugh. Update, just got off the phone with a buddy who works at Best Buy and he mentioned BB would have no problem with looking up my credit purchase and swapping out 360s and GoW. Whew!! |

I'm not at all surprised you're having problems.
Right now I'm in the middle of waiting for my third 360 to arrive. I absolutely love the console, but it is by far the most problematic system I've ever owned. I lucked out during Christmas-time '05 and found one online. I was wanting to wait until I could buy it with an extended brick and mortar warranty, but my lust for new electronics over took me and I had to have it. I didn't have any problems initially, but I then hooked it up to a brand new HDTV, and within a minute, the GPU failed on it, giving me a blue checkerboard screen. I called up Microsoft, and they had a 360 back in my hands within a week. In the year and a half since, I had problems, but nothing extreme. Numerous lockups, wireless sync problems, and the occasional disc drive oddity, but never complete system failure. Then one night a few weeks ago, I was playing Luxor 2 when I heard an ear destroying feedback blast out of my console. It froze, I raced over to the tv, turned off the 360 and then rebooted it. Three rred lights of death. I tried it once again and it worked without incident for another week or so, until I once again played Luxor and had the same thing happen. This time there was no going back, the system had died. Checking the error code, I had the unexplainable 0102 error, so I had to send the system in. Knowing damn well it was out of warranty, I argued the guy down from the $140 he initally told me to just $35. I'll be getting back my system next week, and it'll come with a new one year warranty. You can bet next March my system will miraculously fail. |

It looks like one of my best purchases ever made is going to be the 2 year warranty with the 360. Whew! I'd be dead had I not purchased the warranty.
Replacement by tomorrow, wooh. |

I love the 360 but I must agree that they are very problematic. I'm on my fourth one already. I bought my first one the day after christmas 2006.
I take care of my consoles too, never had a PS2, Xbox, or any other system break on me. |

You guys with the loads of problems all bought yours early.
It was the same way with the PS2. I waited 6 months to buy my PS2 and never really had issues. I bought my 360 in May of last year and never have problems. |

Can't believe you've been through 4 boxes in 6 months...the law of averages says that's not possible. Where is your unit located, is it vertical or horizontal? |
