People have forgotten all the turnovers last season. Most of them by Cassel.

Smith isn't a franchise QB. The glaring holes on this team won't be hidden by stellar QB play, they'll stand out, just like they did with the last game manager we had at QB.

Ummm, Matt Cassel isn't a franchise QB and he won 10.

I'd like to think Reid is a much better HC than Haley.

It isn't optimism (use homer and I'll neg bomb you). It's expectations given the compensation they gave up for Smith and the vets they signed in Free Agency. Their aren't as many holes as you guys try and make out. Turning the ball over 50 times in a year and historic bad QB play really is what made the team as bad as they were. Alex is much better than the garbage we've watched in recent years.

Agreed.

While I do not think Smith is going to carry this team to many playoff wins, he will make them more competitive.

Is this what we really want? Of course not, but it's the reality we are now faced with.

I don't know, I just don't get the point of making every other post a tantrum about Alex Smith.

yes there is, there are tons of holes

no RB depth
tons of oline questions
no starting ILB
no ILB depth
zero OLB depth
zero defensive line pass rush
no safety depth


and if you sit there and say guys like Cyrus Gray, Hussain Abdullah and Geoff Schwartz are the answers to these holes you need to really sit down and take a long look in the mirror about the turd stains you are talking about and expect production from

Schwartz and Abdullah were solid starters the last time they had the opportunity. Quit playing Madden kid.
