Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't both the SEC & Big 12 put 9 teams into bowls? More than any other conference?

I definitely think they would have won the North which Mizzou did twice. I'm not sure that is an actual thing you get a trophy for but no matter. It isn't going to be easy for WVU to rise up and win this 10 team league. I think they got a bit of a rude awakening this last season.

If I had my pick I would have MU if anything to keep the 110 year old rivalry with KU intact but that ship has sailed. Now as a fan I just want to beat them.

Quite a lot, and growing by the day.

You sure? I'd say the South has a far more captive audience for college sports than the rust belt does. There isn't much of any NFL presence down there. We'll see what the new SEC tv deal turns out to be. I'd guess it'll surpass the Big 10 by a comfortable margin and that'll answer the debate.

This is why the Big 10 network works.

The nation loves games like Alabama-Florida. LSU-Georgia, etc. But all those games get onto national TV anyway. We'll see how much "value" the SEC Network ends up having but I really don't see large cities across America being interested in Ole Miss volleyball. In the south they will watch anything. That's why they will keep expanding.

The SEC has flagship schools in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee, Missouri, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, and South Carolina. They also have the #2 school in Texas which currently might be the most popular program in the country.

It's not like Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Maryland are any bigger than Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, and Missouri are similar to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Michigan. As many people in Texas follow aTm as people in Jersey follow Rutgers.

If you think less people care about college football in the Southeast compared to the Northeast and rust belt, you're out of your mind.

Look at any US city population ranking. SEC cities are scarce.

It's like a religion down here. I prefer the NFL more, but every college stadium down here is like Arrowhead used be back in the 90's. Every Saturday in the fall is a national holiday, yet every Sunday the Jags, Bucs and Dolphins play in front of half empty stadiums and the sports bars are half full at best.

That is correct.

The 9 teams the Big 12 sent to bowls had a total of 74 wins (8.2 wins per team).

The 9 teams the SEC sent to bowls had a total of 92 wins (10.2 wins per team).

The 1 team that didn't make a bowl for the Big 12 won 1 game (1 win per team).

The 5 teams that didn't make bowls in the SEC won 19 games (3.8 wins per team).

That's what I said. The southern audience cares about college sports 10x more than anyone else. There just simply aren't that many of them to really make networks bend over backwards.

Did you just randomly highlight cities, or are you saying that Kansas City, Memphis, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Savannah, Jackson, Houston, Miami, etc. aren't SEC cities?

Funny how half of the BCS bowls are played in the heart of SEC country while the other two are in PAC country.

There may be smaller cities, but they have cable tv, Directv, Dish, etc. all over the south contrary to what northerners might think. Most of those larger cities in the Northeast aren't areas that care about college football anyways and don't have teams to follow.

I said I stopped after Mobile. If you'd like to revise the list I'm all for it. Still is scarce compared to other footprints.

New Orleans I missed, I'll give you that.

Kansas City, Houston, Miami are not SEC towns. Not even close.
