Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

another stupid question from the gun n00b.

What is an objective standard for being a "poor", "OK", "good" and "elite" marksman with a pistol? Say, from 10-15 feet, 25 feet, and 50 feet?

Today I fired another hundred rounds while learning how to shoot, and by the end, I was able to get to the point where I hit a 5 inch target from about 10 or 15 feet away roughly 2/3 of the time. Thats a lot better than last week, but I have no idea if thats bad, good or what.

Absolutely. I actually like to use the pad of my index finger, the center of that swirly part in your fingerprint, and put the center of the trigger on that. I practice this with both handguns and rifles every time I shoot.

SKS’s. I’ve got a Norinco, Chinese, that’s a damn sweet shooting rifle but I looked it over carefully before I bought it. Particularly the chrome in the barrel, a notorious weak spot for Norinco’s. Any crack, split or seam in the chrome and walk away.
I bought mine back in ’93 when a gun shop was selling them in boxes still packed in cosmoline for $60. I wish I’d have bought 5 at the time, even the Chinese ones go for around $300 now.

Well, the new holster for my H&K showed up last night - I specifically referenced the fitting charts and selected a Blackhawk Omega VI because it would fit my pistol with the laser sight/light.

And of course, they sent me the wrong model. I hate returning stuff online - what a pain in the ass.

She's a beauty.

The 556 SWAT is heavy as ****, I can't imagine how I'm going to be accurate for an extended period of time shooting that thing. I guess I need to get stronger.

That is what I meant to say, just didn't explain it as well.

I bet it doesn't hold anything against my PTR-91KF, that thing is 10+ lbs. with a full mag.

Not high caliber, but I can shoot this little number out to 100 yards.

Not mine, but very similar.

I have mine scoped with a 4x6 Bushnell Elite and shoot hornady ballistic tips. Killed a doe with it at 80 yds.

:Looking for a AR-15 type weapon. Been reading about how the HK416 is better than the M4.

What do you thing about this weapon?

HK MR556 A5 Rifle in 5.56mm with 16in barrel in black.

Like the HK416, the MR556 is a major product improvement of conventional AR-type carbines and rifles. Using the HK-proprietary gas piston system found on the HK416 and G36, the MR556 does not introduce propellant gases and carbon fouling back into the rifle's interior, making it the most reliable of any AR-type firearm. The MR556 uses many of the assemblies and accessories originally developed for the HK416 series arms including the HK free-floating four-quadrant rail system/handguard. This system allows all current accessories, sights, lights, and aimers used on M4/M16-type weapons to be fitted to the MR556. The HK rail system can be installed and removed without tools and returns to zero when reinstalled. Like the famous HK416, the MR556 uses a barrel produced by Heckler & Koch's famous cold hammer forging process. The highest quality steel is used in this unique manufacturing process producing a barrel that provides superior accuracy for more than 20,000 rounds with minimal degradation of accuracy and muzzle velocity.

My memory is pretty rotten right now. Did I tell y'all I ordered one of these Czech vz.24 a few weeks ago? She's a beauty queen, they ground off the crest but the guns in great shape (considering). Recommended, if you're looking for a bruised shoulder.
