with my dad at St Luke's down on the Plaza

My dad is 61 years old and is one of the nicest people in the world. He was cleaning the gutters for the elderly lady down the road and the ladder shifted and flipped him off the roof/ladder and he fell 2 stories onto the wrought iron lawn furniture, shattered the right side of his body and Jackie Chaned over the railing, falling onto the wood deck below on his "good side".

Broke 8 ribs, collarbone/clavicle, shoulder blade snapped in half and a collapsed lung...dude is one tough hombre. When he landed, there was no one home so he fished his cell phone out of the front of his bib overalls and called my grandmother, who called 911.

This was, what, last Wednesday? Been here mostly ever since. My aunts came and relieved me so I could play at the Blue Note on Friday but we cancelled Sat in Alton IL and I came back. I got a break on what, Sunday?? Watched the game, took a shower, ate at Q39 for the first time (great burnt ends, not so great sides, imho), and been here since 5:30 yesterday.

Might have to do Jacks Stack tomorrow...

Well, he's pretty wealthy but obviously too stupid to hire someone to install the sod. I have 1.5 acres of grass, but I had mine hydro-seeded.

This guy is a complete ****ing idiot. Last fall I invited some of the neighbors over for a barbeque. I had a fire going in my fire pit and this guy came up and asked me, "what kind of wood are you burning?" I jokingly replied, "firewood." This idiot then proceeded to ask me what kind of tree produces firewood. I just shook my head and walked away from him.

Wow, prayers for your Pops for a speedy recovery.
My Dad used to habitually get on his roof to clean sticks etc., in his 70's then. He fell off and luckily didn't get to hurt. He told me the initial hit didn't hurt but the bounce was a hurtful hell.
Now he is 87 and my Mom calls if she even sees him getting out a ladder.

And any decent fireplace or potbelly stove will burn pretty much anything.

Hedge burns hot as ****.

Great day today; Dad got his chest tube taken out and they took out the epidural too, he went for a walk and he's feeling great.

The prayers worked!! Be a couple days still yet while they try and get the pain under control but there is daylight on the horizon...

Praise God your dad is feeling better RR. My heart went out to him after I read how he got hurt, tell your dad you have people praying for him.

Bad things happen in our lives but we just have to trust in the Lord to help pick us up through these times.

Like the foot prints on the sand picture shows us. Lean on God and let him carry him through these rough times.

Thank you, and you are absolutely right- his recovery in 9 days time is very miraculous for the extent of the injuries, even the doctors are kind of shocked this it's happening so quick.

A big part of it has to be the prayers, because it's miraculous...and I'm so grateful for my health and my family and friends, and I know that without my family and friends, everything else in life is hollow and empty.
