*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*

Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

**From the 2012 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

I'd add plyometrics to your workout. If you're still doing roller derby I think it'd help a lot.

I'm a big plyometrics fan. They do a lot for overall athleticism.

There is nothing wrong with eating beef.

Got my results of the underwriting process for my life insurance.

Yup, those ****ers classified me as overweight. 5'7", 188....with muscle. Guess it doesn't matter to reeruns using BMI to classify a person's bodyfat levels. How about even a simple waist measurement included to discredit my elevated height/weight ratio so you can see I'm not carrying around a ton of bodyfat? Nope!

****ing losers.

And this was Statefarm, by the way. I'm completing the process with a different company and they seemed much more thorough. Hopefully they don't **** me.

People need to go back to work. My gym was as crowded as I've ever seen it today. People were in my way every time I turned around. It's never like that.

It's stupid. I'm 6'4"/195 lbs and I'm close to the "over-weight" thresh hold. And I'm consistently around 13% body fat. I get an annual call from the health insurance case managers and they run through a dumb script that gets all ****ed up when I tell them I have a 31" waist and 13% body fat.

I always hate the New Years resolution crowd. It's close. The next 2 months are going to suck.

Man. That blows. Is that part of the new regs? Are you going to have higher premiums?

You are still overweight which can lead to more wear and tear on your tendings, muscles, ligaments. Overweight people end up in the hospital more it is a fact.

No luckily for my regular health insurance my doctor signs a letter than my height/weight ratio is appropriate secondary to my muscle mass.

This is for term life insurance and they are ****ing me over in the underwriting process because I'm classified as average and my rates are way higher than they should be.

"Overweight" because I workout and have muscle mass which in no way leads to the conclusion you present.

its going to be like that for the next 3 months. huge influx from all the 'new years resolutionists' that want to lose weight. Then then disappear when they see that it actually requires work.
