Michael Smith Calls the Chiefs "Contenders" on NFL Live

Says, you take away a couple plays like the Hester return and the Wilson "fumble" and the Chiefs could be 2-0 instead of 0-2.

I heard him on AM radio yesterday saying the same sort of things. That we started 0-2 last year too, and we have as much of a chance or better to make the playoffs this year.

Definitely an unpopular opinion.

I am rooting for Michael Smith every single time he is on around the horn from now on. He makes good points. Wilson's fumble wasn't a fumble, it just wasn't. And if the Bear's would of had Eddie Drummond instead of Devin Hester we probably would of went into OT or won. I know i know, shoulda woulda coulda. But there is still some hope.

If all those bad things that happened to the Chiefs had actually been good things, they'd go 19-0 every year.

I really don't like those arguments. If I hadn't gone into a stupid restaurant in 1991 I'd have never met my ex-wife and my pocketbook would be full.....

Except I did go into that restaurant and met a cute girl with a body that wouldn't quit and forever changed my destiny.

I just gained a lot of respect for Michael Smith...

It takes a lot to see through the bullshit...how can ANYONE who watched the Bears game NOT see that this is a playoff caliber team.

People can laugh at me now, just like they did last year when I was stating Huard > Green, but if we play defense like we did against the Bears, correct our special teams play, and start pounding the rock with LJ (keeping Bennett of the field) we're going to be ok...we lost two road games, LJ has been playing 60% of the snaps (only), and we've been making uncharacteristic mistakes...AND WE DON'T PLAY @ CHICAGO AGAINST THE BEST FRIGGIN' DEFENSE EVERY WEEK!

We have a great match-up this week, and then we'll lose against San Diego...but then we get 6 of 8 (or 7 of 9, not sure) at Arrowhead and we're going to make a run...all we have to do is win 3 road games (easier said than done) to be a playoff team with our homefield advantage.

This is deja vu for me, I was saying the same shit after we lost 6-3 @ Denver last year...this is a quality team, I can't wait to reference this post when we win 9 games.

and as for the Houston game...we weren't winning that game with or without the Wilson fumble...they were just a better team that day, I think we'd beat them @ Arrowhead, but not at their place.

Hey, I understand that 80% of you want NOTHING to do with 9 or 10 wins...but you have to make the playoffs in order to win a Super Bowl, and shit, if we're 1 and out again, that's better than being 4-12...anyone who thinks differently should go **** themselves.

Some days I think we're a 4 win team, other days I think we could conceivably be wildcard contenders.
Our defense is obviously playoff worthy, the question is on O.
In truth we have some pieces right now and all it would take is elevated play in the passing game and as a team we would suddenly be pretty scary.
Now whether that elevated play needs to come from the QB position or the coaching is a matter for debate...
