Very few non-bronco fans can tolerate him. he creates inane threads that are homeristic in nature (his avatar is very apropos), and nobody loves him (not even his own mother)

'face, this can be the home for all knowmo threads so we aren't treated to the bi-weekly steaming 'presents' left by the front door.

Atlanta's offense didn't do much against us. The 4 first quarter turnovers is where they got their points. They are a conventional offense, we can hold our own against them.

The Texans had two big plays from blown coverages. Shit happens.

We just don't have an answer for New England's two TE package.

Woodyard is in there on 3rd down already. Him and DJ have been our nickle LB's for a few years now. I'm glad we signed Brooking, he is a good player but I don't think he is any better than Mays in coverage. I think our defense would have played just as well against Oakland if Mays was in there instead of Brooking.

No, Woodyard comes off in nickel. Our back 7 becomes Miller-Mays-Champ-Harris-Porter-Adams-Moore.

The 96% was not an exaggeration. Mays has been in on defense for 96% of the plays he has been available for.

Champ? 95%.

Von? 89%.

Yep. When your D allows as many 3rd down conversions as Denver's is this year you aren't going to beat any good teams. Period.

Rep for honesty. Yeah, it's kind of wierd. I figured they'd have a pretty nasty D on 3rd downs with those pass rushers, but it hasn't quite worked out that way.

I swear Woodyard is still in our nickle package. Von plays DE on 3rd down and Woodyard and Mays are our nickle LB's. I remember Fox taking Woodyard out in other games this year on early downs, and replacing him with Brooking.

Remember Woodyard's one handed pick against Houston? That happened on 3rd down. I think both of Woodyard's sacks have come on 3rd and 4th down as well.

Not honesty so much as no way around it. It's right out there every Sunday in front of God and everybody.
Can't fix it if you don't acknowledge it.Coaches and players know it.

There were plenty of things for Broncos coach John Fox to dislike as he sat in his office and went through the film of Sunday's 31-21 loss to New England.

But there were four defensive plays that stuck out more than most.

"You know, third-and-10 plus, there were five situations, and they converted four of them," Fox said Monday afternoon.

Indeed, the Patriots turned four third-and-very-longs into four long gains — a total of 83 yards on four snaps. There were two 25-yard passes, a 19-yard completion, and, perhaps worst of all, a 19-yard run right through the middle of the Broncos' defense.

"At the end of the day, our third downs have a been a little bit of a bugaboo throughout this portion of the season,"
Denver Broncos

Fox said. "Probably the most disheartening thing is they weren't all third-and-ones."

The Broncos allowed the Patriots to convert 11-of-17 third downs. Denver's opponents through five games are converting 47 percent of their third downs.

"It was very evident they were playing keep away from our offense, and our inability to get stops on third down, along with some of our first-and-10 run defense, allowed them to do that," Fox said. "Those conversions on third down are obviously an area we have to improve at."

Woodyard has been in on 71% of defensive snaps. If you don't count the game Mays was suspended, then it drops to 65%.

Funny how you just named 3 huge plays that the part time defender has had, and the only big play I can think of for the guy that doesn't come off the field was a free 15 yards the other way.

I'm not defending Joe Mays at all. I know he is a a two down player, Brooking is also just a two down player.

That I'm fine with. My problem is, if he is a 2 down player, why is he on the field for essentially every play? Woodyard should be getting the opportunities that Mays is. Here are the QB ratings when targeting our LBs:

Woodyard: 57.4
Brooking: 94.0
Mays: 122.3

He is on the field every play because we honestly don't have anybody better. Brooking is too old to be playing a bunch of snaps. Brooking's value to this team is that he is capable of playing both Will and Mike. He is the only reserve player we have who can somewhat hold is own when called upon.

Woodyard is better. If WW was playing 96% of the time and Mays was playing 65% of the time, I wouldn't be complaining.
