LeBron doing LeBron things as usual. Incredible player.

Also did Vogel lose his ****ing mind or something at the end tonight? Pulling Hibbert there was absurd. The guy completely holds the defense together and prevents guys like LeBron/Wade from slashing to the basket at will. It's like if KU needed a defensive stop and Self decided to pull Withey.

Because it is the NBA and guys hit open jump shots with regularity (which you could get against a zone).

Better to force a jumper than allow for the opportunity of a hole by the rim...eh, maybe not.

Would have been less of a hole if Hibbert was actually on the floor and standing near the rim like he should have been (and if George didn't completely overplay it).

Agree on the first part.

Sucks for Vogel, because his defensive options are pretty shitty when the heat have all their shooters out there. Concede the drive to the rim, or basically concede a WIDE open jumpshot for the win by keeping hibbert out there. Especially with a guy that's just as likely to pass it as he is to take it in Lebron. That's really the magnificence of Lebron in the clutch.

It's not like Hibbert can't move out there or get out on a shooter at all. He does it often enough. By not having him on the floor, you're leaving perhaps the greatest slasher in the history of the game with nothing really between him and the basket. It's a sure way to fail.

There are just no words.

You're up one point. I'd settle for LeBron taking a jumpshot and if he gets too deep in the drive, foul him hard and force him to make free throws. Clearing the lane out is about the stupidest strategy available and Vogel did it on the two most important defensive possessions of the game.

Yeah, you first try to force LeBron into a jump shot (and if not, at least it will be a contested two at the basket with a foul/two shots being the most likely outcome). Doing what they did all but ensured a layup for him both times.

You just rarely see coaching decisions both as poor and impactful as this one was. I was laughing my ass off seeing Hibbert pulled both times because I knew exactly what LeBron was going to do given the opportunity. Just unconscionably bad stuff.

No, he can move, but he's basically going to be guarding nobody in the paint or guarding somebody out at the 3. How is either of those situations a good thing?

Let's not kid ourselves, that was a lightning quick move by lebron. No way is hibbert going to be able to recover into the paint unless he was leaving his man wide open to begin with.

Personally, I would have kept him in there, but for obscuring the passing lane for battier.

LeBron James with the ball in his hands and shooters all around him is never a good thing, but it becomes even worse when you take out your best defender and rim protector out of the game.

A great move. Both at the end were, that's just what the guy does. But Vogel played right into Spoelstra's hands by taking Hibbert out of the game and allowing LeBron to get to the basket freely.

Everybody's acting like Indiana's D was just standing around. Lebron made one hell of read and an INSANELY quick drive in 2.2 seconds. When was the last time you saw anybody drive to the basket and lay it up with 2 seconds left? 99% of the time that's going to be a jumper.

Why? Because most people aren't robots from the future sent to destroy our concepts of basketball.
