I think the real key is the Jets and what they do. If they go WR, the chances of one of the top guns falling to us gets much slimmer. With their signing of Decker though, they may not feel rushed to get that #2 guy in round 1.

Even after struggling at his Pro Day, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Friday that Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater's private workouts with NFL clubs "have also gone very shakily."
Mort believes Bridgewater's forthcoming draft-day slide won't occur solely because of his Pro Day. He says Bridgewater's private passing sessions with teams have been underwhelming, too. Mortensen added that teams remain concerned with Bridgewater's smallish hands. Once considered the likely No. 1 overall pick, Bridgewater's fall could ultimately mimic Geno Smith's from last year.
Uh oh, looks like Geno Smith V2.

He doesn't have Geno's physical tools.

Bridgewater has a small frame and a poor release.

I've already stated that he was being totally overrated a long time ago, but that seems to be the protocol with college QB's early in the draft process.

Would you take him over the other prospects available at 23? I wouldn't.

Yeah, at this point, I don't see Beckham falling to us. At the very least, the Steelers, Jets, Ravens (Stokely and Smith have a combined 30 years in the league), Eagles and Lions could be potential landing spots and another handful of teams (Giants, Tampa Bay, Minnesota) would be happy to upgrade their WR position.

Beckham's combination of speed, vertical, long arms, huge hands and very precise route running might even put him in contention as the second receiver off the board - prior to Mike Evans.

At this point, I'm highly doubtful of him lasting to the 23rd pick.

Which makes me sad.

That is INSANITY, but teams prove to be VERY stupid every year.

I'd take Bridgewater in a heartbeat at 23.

Bridgewater's biggest red flag to me is his personality. In every interview, he comes off as quiet and shy, and generally not comfortable in his own skin.

That's a potential red flag in a league that will test you between the ears as aggressively as it will your body.

That red flag, added to his frame, and you have the potential for the guy who isn't a leader missing a ton of games..

If Houston goes QB at 1.1, doesn't it make a little more sense to go Manziel rather than Bortles?

I mean the draft is a crapshoot and neither Manziel or Bortles might actually work out, but at least in the short term Houston gets the buzz of the most hyped football athlete since Tebow who happens to have played college ball in the same state.

Does Bortles just bring that much more to the passing game than Manziel?

Bortles has a noodle arm and aside from his hawt side piece doesn't do much for me while John Football just keeps growing on me the further we get into this process.

Manziel is the only QB I personally have a 1st round grade on as someone watching this process. That said, the NFL looks as though it thinks differently. As a matter of fact, I don't even have Bortles in my top 4 QBs, and would probably slide him out of my top 5 at this point. I hate his ability to throw the football.

Here's what NFL teams will like... His frame. He's big at 6'5" 232. He's a pocket passer with good pocket awareness, ala Ben Roethlisberger. Those two items are going to appeal very heavily to Bill O'Brien. He makes fairly good decisions, and fairly good reads, that will need refinement. But to me, he throws a worse flutterball, lob pass than post-neck surgery Peyton Manning, and this kid is a rookie. I don't know if that'll hold up. I've heard rumblings that Houston is caught up between Bortles and Clowney at #1 and that Manziel really isn't in the conversation. If I'm picking at 1.1, I'm taking Manziel, period. I don't think Houston will.
