Does anyone know if our initial "offer" to Manning was competitive?

I hope Denver has a top notch taxidermist, so the team can get some value out of Manning, after his first big shot to the head. Perhaps they can mount him next to the horse?

butthurt? go back and read my posts about manning, prior to denver ever signing him. I've never liked the thought of a guy that is 36 years old, coming off his fourth major neck surgery, and having not played football in a year and a half coming to my team. Never. Reading the article today about Manning at the Rockies game, it seemed obvious to me that Manning wanted to go somewhere that he was familiar with and where he would be surrounded by friends. He mentioned Helton, Stokley, and John Lynch prominently as influences.

I guess if the Chiefs wanted to sign the guy, they should have gone back in time and signed Stokley and Lynch, and had the Royals draft Helton back in 1995, then changed baseball's financial structure so that they could have kept Helton when he was up for free agency.

The Chiefs should have also played Gannon instead of Grbac in 1997 so that John Elway would never have won back to back championships at his age and be able to use that as a selling point to Manning...
