Cats and breeding-Maine Coon

Anybody know who has a male that we can breed with an un documented female? They are a big cat. It takes up the couch.

My sister has a un-papered female but has a full blood line. She got it cheap because there are no papers...thus not breedable for selling issues.

This is not for money making "pure bred" cats for sale issue. She would like to have some kittens and I would like to have one as well.

I like big dogs, and like big cats as well. The bigger the better, both cats and dogs. I have 10 acres and have had Great Danes, Huskies, Retrievers, Lab mixes etc.

The kittens would not go for sale but for households that want a BIG cat.

BTW, all my dogs and cats are rescue or adopted. Why pay money for a needed animal, for them and me.

Thoughts?

Never had to throw a boot party for a cat, whose owner couldn't control it.

I try to love both though.

That is just ingrained in rural America's thinking, due to dogs being good for hunters, they are thought of as "manly".

I don't have anything against dogs, they are just a pain in the ass to own. If you think about it, a cat is no less manly than a dog. A cat is independent, a dangerous carnivore coming from the lineage of Lions & Tigers. A cat you have to earn it's respect usually and doesn't follow you around all the time like a little kid. If anything, a dog is more like a little child and therefore a maternal instinct would yearn for that pet over a cat

Its a ruff thing to hear, but you wrong a cat once, you're sworn enemies. A dog you can beat on all day errday. One is admirable, one is respectable.

Ask any midwesterner who has outbuildings if they like their outdoor cats. You'll get a great big yes.

Ask any sane person if they want a box of animal shit in their home and they'll tell you no.

Is that actually a factor in people's decisions? I'd think that a main part of owning a pet and loving it is going out of your way not to physically abuse it, but that's just me. I'm an equal opportunity animal lover, but I've had fantastic luck with my cats so far.

IDK, I thought we were flexing manly animal opinions in here.

J/K, I love them both and like anything its dependent on the owner. If you're a real cool MF, dogs and cats will love you the same. I'd gladly hurt an owner, or otherwise shit human, over an animal any day...and it's a cat that taught me to be that way.

Anyone have a Bengal Cat? Thinking about getting one someday, but I'm afraid they will terrorize my house and go berserk if I leave them alone for a week. I've heard they can do that.

Agree to disagree

I don't mind the box of animal shit in my house. Just put it in a closet or the basement. They have good litter and odor repellent these days. I can usually tell when I go into someone's house if they have a dog, versus a cat. I can smell dogs easily. Unless they are groomed super often, they just have a stench to them, we all know the wet dog stench. My cat can sleep right by my face and I can't even smell that it is there.

Can you post a pic Holladay?
It is my sisters' cat. I don't have pictures. Big ass female pussy though. It jumps on top of bath room doors and sits there, watching while you shower.

Beautiful cat. Gray long hair and vocal. Nose to ass is about 3 feet, not including the tail. We have 4 cats. One inside, the rest outside (barn). All are Brindle with one black cat with green eyes.

Cats are crazy. Paula is the old inside cat (15 yrs) still steals my son's socks of the shelf in his closet, then yowls at them. Runs up and down the stairs and rumples the rugs as she tears out. Of course, when we first got her...that cat is on drugs. Thus her nickname is Drugs (she answers to it)

Next cat named Lisa is on drugs as well. Can't have 2 cats named the same, thus is Crack. The next cat is Simon, not. She nicknamed Spaz. Then the black cat is Cinder, not. Named Verruckt, crazy in German. All the cats answer to their nicknames, as much as a cat will answer to anything.

Dogs are just Bonnie and Clyde. Twin Shepard Husky mixes.

The cats and dogs cuddle together. Go figure.

I don't really understand how someone can sleep with a shedding animal. I love my dogs and cats, don't want their hair in my bed.

I slept at a friends house and their Boxer slept with me and kept pushing me off the bed. That didn't last long.

I guess it is what you are use to.

We have never given our animals a bath. Deutsch (big blond female retriever/lab)and Mr Frodo (male black pit/lab) went to the creek. They came back black with mud. Deutsch looked like a coon. The only blonde was around her eyes. The next day she and Mr Frodo were clean as a whistle. Thinking they groomed each other. Skunks, dead vermin, wet dog smell etc, next day are fine. Keep in mind they are primarily outside dogs (10 acres) so we don't have to endure the smell inside...just kick 'em out to go roam.

I didn't know this:

Quote:
Maine Coon. The official state cat of Maine is -- you guessed it -- the Maine Coon. This plus-size cat, adorned with a beautiful neck ruff, dainty britches, tufted feet that resemble snowshoes and a big, bushy tail that he can wrap around himself when he naps is likely the oldest cat breed native to America.
Nor this:

Quote:
If you want a cat the size and temperament of a small dog -- one that even wags its tail with excitement every time you get home -- consider a Maine Coon. It's "the gentle giant of domestic cats," says Hutcherson.

Maine Coons can grow to up to 25 pounds. The breed was developed from longhair tabby barn cats in the state of Maine, Hutcherson says. The longest cat in the world is a Maine Coon.

Expect to pay between $1,500 and $4,000 for a kitten. Since cats are double the size of the average domestic cat, expect to pay a minimum of $200 annually to feed them -- but it can be twice that or more for higher-end food.

If you don't want to do your own grooming, expect to pay around $320 for quarterly bathing, brushing and nail clipping. Total yearly maintenance, including food and a few toys and excluding grooming servives: $980.
I thought the Tiger was?
