You guys are confusing the official White House portrait, which is pretty straight laced, with these which are for the Smithsonian portrait gallery. They usually are more abstract or individualized and by modern artists.

Jesus, get over yourself. He looks like a ****ing goof.

If he'd had a normal portrait done, like every single one of his predecessors, nobody would even be talking about it. And conversely, ANY president who chose to do this would be mercilessly mocked, regardless of party or color. And deservedly so.

I am deeply offended by the Obama's art being viewed through a white mans lens. The celebration of their powerful blackness is lost among the masses.

And I hear this artist mixes his semen into his paints too. Anyhow, he uses a lot of flowery backgrounds in his portraits to upend portrait tropes. The flowers with Obama are Kenyan and Hawaiian.

I like some of his other portraits but I don't like how Obamas came out. It doesn't reflect the office he held. Obama's stature in the composition is too small. Many of his other portraits are better, imo.

Here's some of his other portraits.

The Michelle Obama portrait is even worse. It actually looks amateurish. Especially compared to this artist's other portraits.

Here's more about his work using plants for his portraits with more samples.

If I had 100 guesses after looking at the Wookie's painting, I still don't think I could of guessed who it was. Has it had some work done since it's time haunting the halls of the White House or what?

He did a pretty good job on Obummer. I cringed instantly and ran to make sure some big hairy man wasn't in my daughter's bathroom. So the "artist" hit the mark with that one. But the Wookie appeared to be a female. The "artist" appeared to miss the mark there big time (a big thanks to Munson for displaying the flaw in that painting )

All jokes aside, those painting are awful, like painfully awful.
