Bill Murray: The Voice Of Reason

Bill Murray praises Republican tax cuts as he attacks divisive politics and blames Democrats for making it WORSE by trying to appeal to minorities instead of everyone.

- Murray warns that political discourse has degenerated into a 'Clash of Clans everyday, first thing in the morning'
- He says Democrats can be divisive by striving to represent certain groups or minorities, rather than simply saying they represented Americans
- 'The way the Democrats handle things is poor, where they try to pick out little pieces of a population, oh well... we represent the LGBT or something,' he said
- 'Instead of thinking that each citizen has a right to be respected as a citizen first, under the laws of the country'
- The 67-year-old said atmosphere made comedy of a political nature very difficult
- Murray played former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon on
- Saturday Night Live after being asked to do the skit by a friend
- 'They had a really good wig,' joked the Ghostbusters star, and ex-SNL star

The Democrats screwed up by letting the fringe of their party become the voice and direction OF their party. Identity politics and virtue signaling isn't sustainable long term as a political platform - people get real tired real fast being preached to, and that's not even bringing up the "white guilt" that progressives sustain themselves with.

Pretty sad that it takes a comedian to really "get" what's going on....while politicians on both sides remain stubborn and oblivious to reality, at the expense of the rest of us.

The kooks you describe are too often portrayed as the mainstream of the party; but make no mistake, Trump and the Tea Party are the kooks on the right....and they get just as much attention. Too much on both counts.

Gotta love hoe Right wingers harp on the LEFT for being fringe yet never bring up the Tea Party Pizzagaters.

Doesn't get more looney than what is going on with the Far right.

I wouldn't call the President a representative of "kooks". He won independents. Are they also kooks?

All I know is that the people who believe in individual liberties over group politics are winning. This is a wonderful thing. I couldn't care less what names I'm called, so long as this trend continues to propagate.

Trump is winning because individuals are waking up from history.

Watched the whole thing last night, someone (forgive me but honestly dont remember) posted a link and this clip happened to be at the bottom of that article

He starts out with a lot of evasive shucking and jiving, trying not to offend either side... then finally settles down and gets real, it was refreshing, and the male interviewer did a pretty damn good job of slowly trying to draw him out IMO

Bill is still the very rare Hollywood Icon who I'd gladly claim as my own, he was very subdued and thoughtful... getting hammered with Bill Murray should be on everyones bucket list

Just so I'm clear, you are not saying Trump is in or the same as the Tea Party, correct?

Doesn't matter, he's pinched either way.

1. Trump isn't really a Tea Partier, and his point was stupid or
2. Trump IS a Tea Partier, but won the Presidency, which means they aren't a fringe group

I love the guy but he's clearly insane.

By that I mean he's no longer able to manage his own finances or speak for himself when talking to medical professionals. From what I hear he's already beaten cancer once and now he's just not doing well.

And by "love the guy" I mean most of my personality is based on his character from Ghostbusters (I'm odd, not sexy, but I'll take my personality and give it a good go with Sigourney Weaver.) "Lost In Translation" was so perfect an example of his life and others in Hollywood that I'm amazed it didn't win more.

They need way more moderate, sane people to have a voice. I used to think CNN was kind of a center-left news network that seemed trustworthy, and now they're going out of their way to prove trump right by going radically libtard. I don't know where sane democrats could voice their opinions anymore.

Honestly, as a center/right guy I look at someone like Mark Ruffalo (whom I completely disagree with) but I don't sense the same animosity from.

Perhaps he is out of touch, perhaps he's wrong, but I honestly feel like it comes from a good place. I might be dead wrong but at least it APPEARS that he's a "classical liberal" in the sense that he just wants to help.

I don't get that feeling from most Hollywood liberals...
