Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

I doubt you could legitimately name 5 QBs that had a crappier surrounding in his first 5 years, and still managed to become a winning QB.
16-4 in 11 games > 15-8 in 16. Alex is a losing a QB that's been figured out if he still played for my team. Same ol Alex fan BS. Give Alex all the excuses for the crap teams he was on. Blame CK7 for playing with the worst defense in franchise history and worst receiving core in nfl.

I'm sure you're hoping this teams talent bombs too after Mahomes takes over so you can troll another set of fans for being mean to Alex. Go **** yourself.

Pure comedy. They would have handled it by drafting Geno Smith.

Those complaining about all the "money" Smith cost realize he's 17th in average salary for QB's right?

Those 2 2nd round picks still burn a hole in your ass? This team was a dumpster fire and needed stability from the top down.

I'm sorry - I have enjoyed my Sunday's not being filled watching a trash product the last 4 years.

Alex Smith was the prefect bridge from the garbage we were used to to what will be the future with Mahomes.

Entertaining? Come on, man. They have won some reg season games but it hasnt been fun football to watch by any means. It is Marty/Herm style winning.

I fully believe this team would have won as much with Chase Daniel, cause he wasn't any heavier than Alex Smith, so the team could have carried that weight just the same.

Agree.

Yeah, I would have spent that second rounder on Gene Smith, sat him for a year or two, and then moved on if he didn't develop appropriately.

Alex Smith was a perfect bridge to not sucking. I'm fed up with "not sucking."

I've missed about 1/2 the Sunday's in the Alex Smith era, possibly a little more, because I know they're not going to beat a great team in the playoffs.

Ultimately, yeah, you can say that.

As pointed out, teams like the Falcons and Panthers and Packers and Steelers had a chance because they had the QB needed.

This team was stabilized from the top down with the hiring of Reid and Dorsey.

They would have won games with or without Smith.

Makes perfect sense for why they traded so much for him, paid him so much, and didn't bother to draft a day 1 or 2 quarterback until now.

That's the point. What they did was not sensible.

Reid and Dorsey know more about football than us, no doubt, but they overpaid significantly to raise the floor by 2 wins a year.

They traded so much because Andy didn't see him as a bridge.
He thought he could fix him, and they didn't draft a day 1 or 2 QB because it took him this long to finally reach the realization that he was wrong.

Those of us that are actual Chiefs fans have to hope that he isn't wrong this time.

Can we give Alex at least a bit of credit? He has the 3rd or 4th highest win % since coming here. He's certainly not the main reason why but he's damn sure played his part.

and 1-3 in the playoffs...

Look I get that regular season is all most true fans care about... That and an unhealthy obsession with players way past their prime because one owns his jersey....

Smith isnt winning when it matters, period.....

This is what freaking aggravates me. Against the Jets We had 8 turnovers two of which went back for touchdowns and the end result was we scored 24 ****ing points. Why is that? How could we not score 44 points that game????

Got ****ing me

How the **** 24 points off of 8 turnovers?

There's some truth to the fact that the Chiefs as a team, especially their stars, haven't shown up in big games. Be it due to injuries or whatever.

They did what they did with Smith in terms of the trade. It stabilized and allowed them to build the roster for Mahomes to step in and play when he's ready.

Smith took alot of shots and hits behind a shitty ol while they built it up and carried on with it.

No shit. All I'm saying is these folks that are acting like any QB could've come in and done what Smith has are deluding themselves. I'm glad they're not sticking with him for much longer, but I appreciate the guy for making Chiefs football actually enjoyable again. Hope he can ball out and hold the fort down for 1 to 2 more years so we can get Mahomes on his way to stardom.
