Probably a good thing I went to bed after the 5th inning. I doubt I would've survived that.

If this team makes the playoffs, they are going to the World Series.

What is it about a Ventura start that makes our pen stoopid?

Second day in a row with a "Championship DVD" type of highlight. It's going to be an awesome video, if we get the chance to make it.
And, wow, Yordano Ventura looks great. He needs to improve those secondary pitches, but his debut has exceeded all of my expectations. The Mariners aren't exactly a high-flying offense, but the Indians certainly are. And he dominated both of them. The strides he has made with his secondary offerings since last season are staggering. If he improves as much from this year to next on those, you're talking about a real star.

Man oh man, that was fun last night.
It was sort of a contest to see who would give it away, but there was some good baseball there too. Ventura's pitching, Salvador Perez' hitting/catching, Alex's throw, and yes, Wade Davis' pitching. And thanks Eric Wedge for leaving a lefty in to face Salvy. Alright, time for us to keep rolling and to get some help out east. |

If that's Santana (and honestly, the only way I see him coming back is if he accepts the Royals' qualifying offer), OK. Personally, I think it's more likely KC goes looking for the NEXT Santana in FA. There are some definite options for that... Josh Johnson, Phil Hughes, etc. I'd also bring back Chen as the swing guy if I can. It would be nice to have him waiting in the bullpen as the long guy, ready to step in should someone get hurt or be ineffective. Rotation: Shields Santana/FA Guthrie Duffy Ventura Chen (long man) Davis Gotta have some insurance if you go with the young guys.

The Santana trade was great but let's not double down on a guy coming off a career year. |

Ian Kennedy also would have been a good target.
