****Official 2013-14 Missouri Tiger Football Repository Thread****

We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

8/31: Murray State
9/7: Toledo
9/21: @ Indiana
9/28: Arkansas State
10/5:@ Vanderbilt
10/12: @ Georgia
10/19:Florida
10/26: South Carolina
11/2:Tennessee
11/9: @ Kentucky
11/23: @ Ole Miss
11/30: aTm

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Razors, cyanide capsules, and Jonestown Kool-Aid are available in the break room. Second door on the left.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

Premium In-State Players:

Roderick Johnson: **** OT, Florissant, MO.
Monte Harrison: **** WR, Lee's Summit, MO.
Jimmy Swain: **** LB, Lee's Summit, MO

Commitment List: From to and possibly

Spoiler!

Fun to see DGB start to assert himself as the next top-10 pick produced by this program.

DGB + a more experienced Mauk who loves to throw the deep ball and isn't afraid to throw to a "covered" WR?

Holy shit. We might open a 400-pound can on people next year...

I don't know what the QB class will look like next year, but there's little question that DGB could end up being the #1 overall pick.

I doubt it will hurt him. If he can play and if he's comfortable being out now (and I don't know if it's true or not), I think he'll be fine.

Yesterday was the first time I have watched DGB play and came away with the impression that he wanted to be great. My biggest question with him is whether or not he has the fire in him. That screen pass he took for a first down was the best play of his career (possibly excluding his TD against UCF last year.)

Missed the game this weekend and watching it now. Unimpressed with K's defensive line early.

SEC NAMES MAUK FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

http://www.garypinkel.com/sec-names-mauk-freshman-week/

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mizzou Football redshirt freshman QB Maty Mauk (Kenton, Ohio) has been named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. The honor is the third of Mauk’s debut season in the Tigers’ lineup, playing in relief of injured senior co-captain QB James Franklin (Corinth, Texas).

Mauk continued his high level of play in the 48-17 win at Kentucky, matching a feat only accomplished by all-time Mizzou great Chase Daniel. Mauk threw five touchdown passes against the Wildcats to match Daniel’s four five-TD pass games from his career (2005-08). The Tiger QB completed 17-of-28 passes (60.7 pct.) for 203 yards and helped sophomore WR Dorial Green-Beckham (Springfield, Mo.) set the school record for touchdown catches in a game with his four.

Mauk’s recognition is the 10th SEC honor for a Mizzou player in 2013, continuing to reset Mizzou’s best for conference honors in a season. Head coach Gary Pinkel’s 2007 squad brought home a total of eight individual honors.

The third honor for Mauk matches senior DE Michael Sam (Hitchcock, Texas) for the team-high in league honors this season. The two Tigers’ trio of honors are the first of their kind since 2007, when former Mizzou and current Kansas City Chiefs QB Chase Daniel was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week three times during the 2007 season (Oct. 8, Nov. 5, Nov. 26).

No. 9 Mizzou (9-1, 5-1) heads into an off week before a road trip to Ole Miss on Saturday, Nov. 23. The Tigers then close the regular season at home with Texas A&M on Nov. 30. Ticket information is available at MUTigers.com.

Mizzou’s SEC Weekly Honors

DE Markus Golden (Jr.) – Defensive Line (Sept. 7)

DE Kony Ealy (Jr.) – Defensive Line (Sept. 14)

DE Michael Sam (Sr.) – Defensive Line (Sept. 28)

DE Michael Sam (Sr.) – Defensive Line (Oct. 5)

LB Kentrell Brothers (So.) – Defensive (Oct. 12)

DE Michael Sam (Sr.) – Defensive (Oct. 19)

QB Maty Mauk (RSFr.) – Freshman (Oct. 19)

OL Justin Britt (Sr.) – Offensive Line (Nov. 2)

QB Maty Mauk (RSFr.) – Freshman (Nov. 2)

QB Maty Mauk (RSFr.) – Freshman (Nov. 9)

So the rumor here at the Lake is that Pinkel is dating the publisher of a magazine down here.
