Covitz: Chiefs offer pregame ideas for MNF
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansas...s/10218038.htm
ABC mum on plans for KC Chiefs offering pregame ideas for Monday night By RANDY COVITZ The Kansas City Star Stung by criticism from its controversial intro for Monday night's Dallas-Philadelphia game, ABC Sports is not revealing its intentions for the upcoming Chiefs-Patriots game on “Monday Night Football.” But players from both teams offered suggestions Thursday for what they'd like to see in the spot that will lead into Monday night's game at Arrowhead Stadium. “I'd do something like out of ‘Bachelor Party,' ” Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez said, referring to a racy movie. “Something to liven this group up. Everyone's down right now, not having fun.” Gonzalez said he was not offended by the lead-in to last Monday night's telecast — which featured Philadelphia wide receiver Terrell Owens and a towel-shedding Nicollette Sheridan — though he understood some of the outcry. “I can see where people are coming from,” Gonzalez said. “I'm from California. I went to the University of California. I'm a liberal, so that's no big deal to me.” Would Gonzalez have agreed to appear in a spot featuring a naked woman? “I probably would have done it, but in hindsight, no,” he said. “I would have made the mistake and done it. But looking back and seeing the repercussions, no way. I wasn't offended. I thought it was cool. Every red-blooded man out there enjoyed it.” New England wide receiver David Givens didn't think any member of the Patriots would have agreed to appear in such a scene. “There are a lot of things that can be done,” Givens said. “I would probably pick a scene from the movie ‘Gladiator' and take our whole team walking out as a team, maybe show some sort of fight from that movie that exemplifies doing whatever it takes … something that has to do with a team effort.” Chiefs kick returner Dante Hall said he liked the intro but called it inappropriate for network television. “I liked it if it was on HBO or Cinemax or something,” Hall said. “But for ABC ‘Monday Night Football' … I didn't get it. I didn't get the tie into football. If you're selling a team concept, you're going to tell the team, ‘You're going to have to win without me?' “That doesn't set a good example for young players at all. But I liked seeing her drop that towel. That was nice. T.O. goes out and does controversial things. Me, I avoid controversy. So I wouldn't have done it.” Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, one of the NFL's most eligible bachelors, doesn't expect to see any actresses near his locker. “It is getting a lot of attention, as it probably should,” Brady said. “Anything to get people to watch the game, I guess. You think the football would be good enough to get people to watch. They don't need to promote it that way. I think it is them trying to get more viewers.” At halftime of this Monday's telecast, ABC will present a retrospective of the career of Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil. In an interview taped during the off-season, Vermeil discussed his initial decision to retire from football in 1982 when he was at Philadelphia; his Super Bowl championship with St. Louis, and the relationship he has with his players. Vermeil, who worked for ABC Sports as an analyst before joining the Rams in 1997, said he had not seen the controversial spot but added: “I don't think there's any place for it on television. In the NFL, a guy gets fined $5,000 for jumping in the bleachers. So I don't know what you fine those people for doing that.” By the way, Owens finished the Monday night game at Dallas with three touchdowns. |

As far as the Chiefs go a spin of the new ABC series "Lost" seems appropriate

Wizard of Oz. They can go with Dorothy to ask the Wizard for a defense.
Then they can add in the line "We're not in Kansas anymore" somewhere just to piss off everyone who is overly sensitive about the Chiefs being in Missouri.

Or the Brady Bunch.
We could have LJ doing a "Blaylock, Blaylock, Blaylock!" skit.
