Video Games Final Fantasy XIV

Just got this for PS3. For those that don't know, it's an MMO much like World of Warcraft. I don't party much and prefer to solo due to family/kid restraints, but enjoyed the FF environment when I played FFXI a few years back.

Anyone play or interested in playing?

Never been into those asian RPGs. They feel turn based to me because the global cooldowns are so ****ing long. You use 1 attack and then sit there for 3 seconds with your thumb up your ass waiting for the other person to attack and then you can follow up.

I've been playing(on Behemoth), and yeah the servers are overpopulated right now. They're supposed to add more this week. It's much better than the 1.0 version in terms of the environments and trading. The combat isn't amazing. I liked that in FFXI a party had to time their attacks to do massive damage. This version is a Zergfest from what I've seen. I made it to being a Black Mage but taking a break until parts for my new rig come on Tues.

It's a ****ing beautiful game, and the music is outstanding. I'm on Leviathan right now and have a lvl 24 Marauder and a 23 Lancer. I was enjoying the Lancer but queue times for DPS were outrageous - as a tank I can queue up in less than a minute.

The problem right now is it is very difficult to login to the game. If you can get queued up to login, you are golden - but during high traffic times that is difficult.

Nearly every MMO has server issues at launch. I guess it's hard to plan for how popular a game is going to be. I played the beta for a while and I can't wait to actually start playing this shit. Hope they get the servers upgraded soon.

I'm on PC and run a simple AutoHotKey script to press the Zero key every half second to attempt to log-in.

Granted that all fails if it fails to find your server pool, but it worked for me a few times while I'd go take a shower. They're going to have a long maintenance on Tues/Weds that will hopefully fix a lot of this as well as start booting AFK players. My IRL friends went to JP servers but even they are having problems logging now. Hope they offer server transfer as soon as they get things under control.

Yeah, the Duty finder is terrible for DPS classes. I'd say if you need to do dungeons for story, just shout for a party as DPS. Early on you can get away with an Arcanist to serve as a Healer and/or tank. If you want to farm dungeons, definitely level a tank/healer class. And no matter what class you are, farming fates is the best exp gainer...and don't forget to do your hunt log.

Only problems are login. Standard MMO.

Got in yesterday after a bunch of people got dced. and have been logged in for about 26 hours now, no plan on logging out.

I was put on the Phoenix server. If I knew more here were playing, I'd have waited. I guess its too late to switch worlds with my character?

Not too late - too early, they aren't offering world transfers yet from what I've read.

I agree - and when i'm actually in game I have no problems. I think the maintenance tonight will get the problems resolved.

Agreed. Digital Downloads where supposedly opened by Amazon earlier then closed again, so I am thinking that SE gave the word to open them back at some point and it was a mistake/confusion.

That being said I bought my key when the digital downloads had been down for several days from a Chinese re seller site.

I doubt the server transfers will even be mentioned until they are FULLY back in control of the login situation. Until, then will play by myself or hook up with someone on Malboro.

Husband and I are playing on malbung (or is it balmung ?lol I forget suddenly). It's a legacy server. I was not going to play as i didn't think it would ever live up to what ffxi was in my memories (5+ years). However, I love it and am already hooked.
