The 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for QB Alex Smith is effectively complete. Can't be finalized til league year begins 3/12

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora

so it's not official, both clubs view it at as it's effectively done. I do not know the other team. KC and JAX are 2 teams that make sense

Or here's a thought. Go to the Geno Smith thread. You know, the one with a bunch of footage and gifs in the heading. Gasp what a crazy thought.

Alex smith will start for the kc chiefs next season. Get used to it. Next season we'll probably have our drafted, franchise qb playing whether it's geno or whoever.

I've got some reality for you. And this was before Flacco won his. So add yet another 1st round QB to the list.

i'm watching and it's pretty impressive. but i also gotta say that what these scouts are saying and the fact that they're all similar to each other means that there is credence to what they're saying. What they see with actual, actual game film, not just highlights with every snap is still better than anything we have access to. They also know what to look for more than the average forumer. So the scouting reports said alot of good things about geno but in the end there's a reason that they say he's not a number one pick and I have to acknowledge what they're saying.

I just don't see how we can afford NOT to take Geno considering our situation AND there are just as many question marks about these other top 10 non-QB players.

Including Flacco, 75% of the SB winning 1st round QBs won their Super Bowl(s) with the team that drafted them.

Of the SB winning 2nd round QBs, 50% of them won their Super Bowl(s) with the team that drafted them.

What if by the draft they change their opinions. A lot of people already have?

they think he's a number one pick? i don't think so. I've been following the news. Let's also get back to the topic of this forum, Why is everyone so averse to alex smith? Reid knows he's a stopgap that'll bring immediate success so it won't have a n affect on the qb we draft. I also think it'll end up helping our drafted qb more to sit for a year or two(max). Getting alex smith will help chiefs in many ways. It won'thurt the team at all.

The news? Have you heard the news that he killed it at the combine? Have you heard the news that his interviews were very impressive?? Have you also heard that he plays THE most important position in football and fills a huge need for us??

Alex Smith is mediocre. He is a game manager. This is fact. Many believe that trading for him eliminates our chances of drafting Geno. Many posters are so impressed my Geno, that that thought is unbearable to them. Much like myself. However i do not believe that trading for Alex means we cannot or will not draft Geno.

So you think you're a better judge of football talent than scouts and gms of nfl teams?? ur funny. Yes, everyone on this forum want geno but everyone that's not affiliated with kc agrees he's not a first pick
