Anchorage has now completed our draft.

1-10 - Traded last year to obtain DE Charles Johnson. We're so thin at DE that we're happy with this trade.

2- 34 DT Kawann Short. We needed help in the back seven, but Vince Wilfork needed help in the middle with the departure of Shaun Cody. Short will compete with CJ Mosley and Josh Chapman for the second DT spot and will certainly be in the rotation.

3-58 FS T. J. McDonald. We were sweating it out to get this guy since we needed a FS upgrade badly. He'll move ahead of incumbent Matt Giordano and likely be a Day One starter.

4-82 WR Quinton Patton. When Peyton Manning is your QB, does it really matter who your receivers are? Our corps is deep, but not overly strong with Kendall Wright, Donnie Avery, Andre Roberts, Devin Hester, and Jacoby Ford. We hope that Patton will get into the mix.

5- 106 HB Zac Stacy. An injury to Lesean McCoy killed us last year. He'll return, and Stacy will compete with Bryce Brown, Jason Snelling, and Isaac Redman for backup carries.

5- 108 CB B. W. Webb. Another area where we're deep but not dominating. Alfonzo Dennard has one spot locked down, and Pacman Jones and Mike Jenkins are competing for the other spot. Webb will likely be a dime back if he can beat out A.J. Jefferson and Richard Crawford. This pick was acquired in the Charles Johnson trade.

6-130 ILB A. J. Klein. Anchorage has no inside linebackers on the roster right now, since Bruce Carter is now an OLB. Klein could get pushed into the lineup as a rookie if we don't move Carter back inside.

7-154 ILB Vince Williams. See above. Williams has every opportunity to start as a 7th-round rookie.

Overall, we look to have one certain new starter, and several guys who will get significant playing time if they don't eventually win a starting spot. We concentrated on defense more, because as long as Peyton Manning and Lesean McCoy are healthy we're confident in our offense.

We also made a draft-day trade that will bring in DE Brian Robison and WR Kevin Walter. Walter may return from injury later in the season to bolster the passing game, and Robison will likely move immediately into a starting DE spot.

The last time I looked at a Steelers depth chart they had him backing up Larry Foote who just got put on IR so there's a pretty good chance Williams will get his shot.

I think I'm going to be running a 4-3 this year and as a Steeler, Williams is obviously going to be categorized as a 3-4 ILB, but he seemed too good to pass up as a 7th rounder.

I wonder how much of a difference it makes with the LBs switching between 3-4 & 4-3?

The inside backers should be the same right?

I don't know how Sandbox deals with it. In real life, if a team switches from a 4-3 to a 3-4, I think you might end up with ILBs who were previously OLBs as well as MLBs. I'm no expert, but I've always assumed one of the ILBs in a 3-4 scheme is more like a 4-3 MLB and one of them is more like a 4-3 OLB. I think Vince Williams was a MLB in college.

Draft done for the Oklahoma City Outlaws. I have to say I'm pretty happy with it even though there was a small screw-up in the middle with the draft board.

The Outlaws roster looks pretty good until you look at the contract situation. Apart from Reggie Nelson and Adam Podlesh, everybody on the team is either going to be a free agent or only has one year left.

So the strategy was to grab current starting rookies where I could and potential studs where I couldn't. In particular, I sought to stop some of the bleeding on defense, which I think went very well.

1 (22) Desmond Trufant, CB- I was torn between him and DeAndre Hopkins at this spot, but I decided that CB was in more dire straits. I've got Jordy Nelson still hanging around for another year. Trufant has already demonstrated awesome potential as a starting CB for the Falcons, so I'm more than happy here.

2 (45) Jon Bostic, LB- I'll see if I can't get away with keeping him on the bench for a year before making him the MLB of the future. I was extremely happy with this selection.

3 (69) Damontre Moore, DE- Not a position of need at all, but I didn't see too many current starting rookies left at this point to warrant going another direction. The Giants apparently think Moore is the next great pass-rushing stud, so that simply can not be passed up.

4 (93) Will Davis, CB- Ehh. This was the thing where my draft board was messed up. I needed more CB depth, so it's fine. Maybe I'll be able to let Antoine Cason walk in the 2014 offseason and let Davis take his spot on the roster

5 (117) 6 (141) 7 (165) Traded to Pompano Beach Pandas for Chris Givens and 7 (159)- I noticed at this point that I had missed out on some pretty good WRs. Terrence Williams was going to be the pick in the 4th round, so I was still without some desperately needed WR depth. Givens has 3 years left on his contract, so that at least gives me some peace of mind going into next season when I'll have to make some brutal roster decisions on who to keep and who to let go. Pandas also finally gets some draft picks to work with.

7 (159) Oday Aboushi, G- Gotta take offensive line help wherever I can get it at this point. He's talented enough that I think he can possibly put himself in line for a starting job with the Jets in 2014. That will help me out a bit at least, when Marshall Yanda and Carl Nicks both become free agents

Bostic at MLB and Ogletree at SLB wouldn't have been too shabby.

Alas, I'm not too mad. Got Ziggy Ansah, Alec Ogletree, Robert Woods and Christine Michael with my first four picks.

With the state of my shit roster I didn't even know which defensive scheme I would run this year. It looks like ill be best suited to run the 4-3.

I think Will Davis is a good pick in that round.

I liked Damontre Moore, but haven't found a way to draft him. I either didn't have need at DE or I had worse needs than DE when he was coming up.

Pembroke Pines Patteeus' draft is over and while we didn't get everyone we wanted, I'm comfortable that we addressed some needs and stockpiled some promising depth.

1.14 - Sheldon Richardson, DT - Due to a strength at DE4, I've been thinking of switching to a 4-3 this year, but I'm short at DT. Star Lotulelei was probably a better fit since Richardson is going to play DE3 for the Jets, but this was kind of a Mizzou homer pick and I'm hoping he ends up being the better player.

2.38 - Giovani Bernard, RB -Aside from QB, my team was pretty weak at offensive skill position talent. I went with Bernard over Montee Ball because I like his prospects behind Cincy's offensive line better than Ball's prospects on the pass happy Broncos.

3.62 - Bacarri Rambo, S - I also needed help in my secondary. My team doesn't care about failed drug tests. We just care about on field production and he's going to be a starter. The guy better not get himself kicked out of the league though.

4.86 - Terrance Williams, WR - I wanted Quinton Patton, but Anchorage took him 4 spots ahead of me. Terrance Williams will probably see more action in a pass oriented offense this year, so I may end up getting lucky by having to go with my fallback option.

5.110 - Luke Willson, TE -We needed some star power and who better than the actor who played Kelso's older brother on That 70's Show... wait, nevermind. It turns out that this Luke Wilson will be a backup in Seattle this year and if we've learned one thing this offseason, it's that anyone who ever set foot in Seattle's training camp is worth a roster spot on your team.

6.134 - David Quessenberry, OT -Both my 6th and 7th round picks played well in the preseason and will have 2nd string offensive lineman roles on teams with good offensive lines this season. Offensive line was a strength of Pembroke Pines last year, but it's good to get some young prospects in the mix for the future. Quessenberry will play guard for Houston.

7.158 - Ricky Wagner, OT -I wanted Steeler's rookie Vince Williams here, but again Anchorage stole my pick. It's possible that they have a mole in my front office. In any event, Ricky Wagner will be the 3rd tackle for the Ravens this year and he already made his regular season debut last Thursday when Michael Oher missed some time due to a minor injury. He sucked, but we hope he gets better over time.

In particular, I sought to stop some of the bleeding on defense, which I think went very well. 1 (22) Desmond Trufant, CB- I was torn between him and DeAndre Hopkins at this spot, but I decided that CB was in more dire straits. I've got Jordy Nelson still hanging around for another year. Trufant has already demonstrated awesome potential as a starting CB for the Falcons, so I'm more than happy here. 2 (45) Jon Bostic, LB- I'll see if I can't get away with keeping him on the bench for a year before making him the MLB of the future. I was extremely happy with this selection. 3 (69) Damontre Moore, DE- Not a position of need at all, but I didn't see too many current starting rookies left at this point to warrant going another direction. The Giants apparently think Moore is the next great pass-rushing stud, so that simply can not be passed up. 4 (93) Will Davis, CB- Ehh. This was the thing where my draft board was messed up. I needed more CB depth, so it's fine. Maybe I'll be able to let Antoine Cason walk in the 2014 offseason and let Davis take his spot on the roster 5 (117) 6 (141) 7 (165) Traded to Pompano Beach Pandas for Chris Givens and 7 (159)- I noticed at this point that I had missed out on some pretty good WRs. Terrence Williams was going to be the pick in the 4th round, so I was still without some desperately needed WR depth. Givens has 3 years left on his contract, so that at least gives me some peace of mind going into next season when I'll have to make some brutal roster decisions on who to keep and who to let go. Pandas also finally gets some draft picks to work with. 7 (159) Oday Aboushi, G- Gotta take offensive line help wherever I can get it at this point. He's talented enough that I think he can possibly put himself in line for a starting job with the Jets in 2014. That will help me out a bit at least, when Marshall Yanda and Carl Nicks both become free agents

With the state of my shit roster I didn't even know which defensive scheme I would run this year. It looks like ill be best suited to run the 4-3.

patteeu The 23rd Pillar Join Date: Sep 2002 Casino cash: $10019237	Pembroke Pines Patteeus' draft is over and while we didn't get everyone we wanted, I'm comfortable that we addressed some needs and stockpiled some promising depth. 1.14 - Sheldon Richardson, DT - Due to a strength at DE4, I've been thinking of switching to a 4-3 this year, but I'm short at DT. Star Lotulelei was probably a better fit since Richardson is going to play DE3 for the Jets, but this was kind of a Mizzou homer pick and I'm hoping he ends up being the better player. 2.38 - Giovani Bernard, RB -Aside from QB, my team was pretty weak at offensive skill position talent. I went with Bernard over Montee Ball because I like his prospects behind Cincy's offensive line better than Ball's prospects on the pass happy Broncos. 3.62 - Bacarri Rambo, S - I also needed help in my secondary. My team doesn't care about failed drug tests. We just care about on field production and he's going to be a starter. The guy better not get himself kicked out of the league though. 4.86 - Terrance Williams, WR - I wanted Quinton Patton, but Anchorage took him 4 spots ahead of me. Terrance Williams will probably see more action in a pass oriented offense this year, so I may end up getting lucky by having to go with my fallback option. 5.110 - Luke Willson, TE -We needed some star power and who better than the actor who played Kelso's older brother on That 70's Show... wait, nevermind. It turns out that this Luke Wilson will be a backup in Seattle this year and if we've learned one thing this offseason, it's that anyone who ever set foot in Seattle's training camp is worth a roster spot on your team. 6.134 - David Quessenberry, OT -Both my 6th and 7th round picks played well in the preseason and will have 2nd string offensive lineman roles on teams with good offensive lines this season. Offensive line was a strength of Pembroke Pines last year, but it's good to get some young prospects in the mix for the future. Quessenberry will play guard for Houston. 7.158 - Ricky Wagner, OT -I wanted Steeler's rookie Vince Williams here, but again Anchorage stole my pick. It's possible that they have a mole in my front office. In any event, Ricky Wagner will be the 3rd tackle for the Ravens this year and he already made his regular season debut last Thursday when Michael Oher missed some time due to a minor injury.
