Need advice on cutting cable cost.

My last bill from Att was $215...sick of paying that much to watch only a few shows. I dont want to cut the cord from cable entirely. I would like to keep basic cable and internet, but still be able to watch the shows I like on HBO and showtime. I`m already a netflix subscriber, any other suggestions ? Can you buy season passes for most of the shows on HBO and Showtime?

Thanks!

Well, I tried installing the latest XBMC from the XBMC website and it was not a good experience at all. HD video played jerky as hell. Going back to the Enhanced XBMC that came with the gboxl.

Just as an FYI: Spotimc doesn't work with Android currently, which sucks for me as I'm an avid spotify user.

Question: is there a way to bookmark a movie so that it will queu up in your library and be ready to play from that exact point and that stream via one click?

Example: I'm watching Thor. Wife comes in and wants to watch breaking bad. I hit the bookmark. We watch BB and then I can easily resume where I left off wit my movie? I know 1channel has a bookmark feature, but I don't think it integrates with XBMC in that way?

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Says they tested many boxes, including the gbox I was planning on getting and OUYA is hands down the way to go. I've watched a few videos, and read a couple web forum reviews, and the only problems people seem to encounter are with high end audio streaming, which a fix is said to be in the works.

A couple pluses are that I could run emulators and play sweet ass NES, SNES, SEGA games.

Seems responsive, stable, XBMC downloadable straight from OUYA store, and right now they have a Valentines deal to get an OUYA for $70.

They also say they figure noobs into the equation for their ranking.

Thoughts?

If the Ouya had just ONE more USB port I might have gone that way. I need my wireless keyboard and 2TB HDD. GBOX gives me everything I need and runs just fine. Gbox gives you 4 usb ports.

As an XBMC box, it's light years better than my ATV. I'm having difficulty getting 720p content to load, but I'm not sure if that's a function of the source or the Ouya's reputedly shitty wifi.

Edit: I just tested the wifi connection, and it blows. 1Meg on a 6Meg line.

For $85 total, it's a good option (if you're using ethernet). Has way more processing power than the Gbox.

If you were in my area, I'd hardwire it for ya. Sucks to deal with Wi-Fi performance issues.

Thats a bummer. 1st Gens allow you to pop a crystalHD card in it and it will play 1080p flawlessly.

Meaning I can type in Pacific Rim, and it will search all torrent sites for the movie, and download the movie from torrent sites to Furk's server. Then I can stream the movie directly from Furk's server, or download it as a direct download. Their servers are so fast that it will download at whatever your ISP speed is. And most content is already on their server, because if any Furk member searches for the content, you'll have access to it as well. So anything you can find on any torrent search from any torrent site, you can directly stream to your media box running XBMC.

But I'm actually looking to upgrade soon. Planning on getting a new Android box, which is ~$100. Most boxes built to run XBMC can also natively run Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Crackle, etc. There's a plugin for just about everything you want to consume, mediawise.
Did Furk.net raise their prices or am I really bad at exchange rates? $7 a month would be a steal and I'd be all in, but it looks like they almost doubled that. (if I'm looking in the right place)

Yeah, looks like prices did go up. Bummer.

FYI.. it's cheaper the longer term you buy. And you get a 10% discount using Bitcoin.

Still easily worth it for me.

Finally got my Ouya. Stock XBMC from the store installed(I know this should probably change). Installed some add ons, lots of fails. Need to figure this pay out a bit better.

On the plus side, installed NES, SNES, and SEGA emulators. Suggestions welcome, but think I got the bulk of what I like. Never owned SNES our SEGA, so not sure there. Simpson's: Bart's Nightmare is going to get the duck played out of it. Underrated.
