Snorkeling is shitty in key west, take a trip out to the dry tortugas to snorkel.

Got a guy who's like an uncle to me who keeps a 1 bedroom condo and a camper down there. You can probably crash with humid your okay with an old man yelling time to eat some pussy near your kids.

I took my family there for my 50th. Spent 2 nights at hotel right next to the 0 mile buoy. Key West is more adult oriented. Islamorada or Marathon are more family oriented.
Best offshore fishing is in Islamorada because it's closest to gulf stream. Gotta go fishing though. I can hook you up with a great captain about 20 miles north of Key West.

It's been a few years, but Key West isn't high on my radar if places to return... Went there while in college but off peak, so we avoided most of the crowds. That made it better. Really there were only two memorable things for me: 1) mile marker 0 & 2) sunset... Oh, and a guy in an uncle Sam get up who tried to solicit my attention by shouting, "hey at-tur-eye guy" when I was wearing an Atari t-shirt.
I forget all the keys were stopped at, but there ones which were more fun and family friendly were the ones further north. |

Yep and a total body wash with all the people down there. I do love Key West though.

Oh Jesus, Key West with kids on spring break? Why...why...why would you ever do something like that? Have fun explaining why the leather clad bears are blowing each other in the alley to your kids.

Some of you appear to have a very different experience in Key West than I did. Other than a couple of barkers trying to get people to go into strip clubs, I saw nothing inappropriate when I was there.

I really all depends when you go down there. There are times when it's relatively calm and then there are those other times. IMHO spring break would be a living hell down there.

Okay. I'm having the heart to heart with the wife tonight. I've already asked the kids, "Why did you want to go to Key West." They said, "To snorkel and do an airboat ride."
My reply, "Awesome. We can do both of those things and more without having to go to Key West and stay overnight away from Palm Beach. We can save money on lodging (we stay free in Palm Beach) and spend that money on other things (fishing charter, kayak rental, etc..)." Kids were fine with it, though the 7 year old said, "But I've written about Key West like 6 times at school. Everyone will think I'm lying about it." Now I just have to convince the wife.

It's something to do once, and you don't need to stay over night in KW.
