PFF, week 3

My god, there's just tons of interesting stuff to talk about this week.

1. Eric Fisher is an absolute dumpster fire. One more sack allowed, two penalties, and a QB hit, and two other hurries. He's bad right now. His whole season has been bad. Two sacks allowed, 7 QB hurries, 3 penalties, and his run blocking isn't good, either. He's the 66th rated OT (out of 68 guys).

2. We ran 84 plays last night. After all the talk about the Eagles running 300 plays a game, we had 14 more. lulz

3. Like I said last night, Justin Houston earned an 8.3 for that game. That's the highest grade I've ever seen anyone on PFF ever get for one game. He's currently the #1 OLB in football, and leads them all in stops, sacks and batted passes.

4. Interestingly enough, Tamba Hali had 8 QB pressures last night. He had a fine game, and actually leads all OLBs in pressures this year. Rumors of his demise are greatly exaggerated.

5. Poe didn't pick up a sack, but got 3 QB hurries of his own. If this guy is picking up 2 sacks or 3 hurries every game, wow. He's sitting comfortably at #10.

6. Tyson Jackson is your unsung hero for the week with a 5.6. That's beasting. 4.0 of it was in pass rush, and he had 3 QB pressures. Who was blocking Tyson Jackson last night? He sucks. Both Jackson and DeVito are ranked in the top 5 among 3-4 DEs.

7. Posted this elsewhere, but it bears repeating: Eric Berry is the #1 safety against the pass, and #2 in stops. He's been targeted 11 times and allowed only 35 yards. He's playing well.

8. Sadly, PFF doesn't like Alex Smith's checkdowns. He's currently their 32nd rated QB.

9. Anthony Sherman is the #1 FB in pro football. That trade looks pretty good.

It's interesting to watch in conjuction with the games, though. You just have to keep an eye out for stuff that just doesn't make much sense.
Good point. Here is another. AJ JENKINS is number 15 now

Thank you kind gentleman, I was about to drop the $29 but I already knew they would be solid just from GC ignoring my questions. Toying with Claynus is about as difficult as questioning a kindergartner about a missing cookie, his poker face is shit and he tells me everything by his responses or non-responses in this case.

I get the somewhat lawyer-ing up of your post with the Flowers/1wr info. It's clear that SS was a monster pickup and his play has been rock solid thus far and I highly suspect this will continue throughout the season.

Dude, I told you everything.

Sean Smith had a couple of good games against scrubs and was crappy against Dallas.

I expect more games like Dallas.

It's weird about PFF. Some people act as though it's the holy grail of football knowledge and is all righteous.

The flip side is people who dismiss the numbers entirely.

I'm not a fan of PFF's grading system because many times it's clearly flawed and that is often most true with defensive and offensive linemen. It's better at other positions, but in the trenches I dismiss the grades.

What I like is the various unofficial stats that give insight into performance: DB stats like QB rating against, completion percentage against, WR stats with attempts and catches, OL stats like sacks/hurries allowed... I think these are awesome and give an insight standard statistics do not give.

The grading system is fishy though because grading systems are always going to be subjective. Always.

This is where we always end up, so here is the question:

Is it possible at this point that you were completely wrong about SS and your projections about his performance with the Chiefs this season?

Nope. This is who Sean Smith is. We haven't seen the last of this.

20-yard gain, on third down.

He's been giving up plays like that his whole career.

I'm really not a big fan of Smith, but that shit happens. It's common for DB's to play a WR's eyes rather than the ball in man coverage. Even if he played the ball, the pass location would have made it equally as hard to defend.

Really now, care to gif up his two picks? They were both (pretty sure but at least one) man coverage where he turned and picked it off which is something Bartee never did once in his entire ****ing career. SS did it his first or second game as a Chief.

This one will be fun this season, however I am pretty much convinced at this point you might have been right about Mcdickhead all along. My only confusion with him still is why every single coach seems to think he has this mass potential and are always trying to get him the ball. He must give the best hummers in history.

Don't sweat SS, I can already tell you're beginning to accept your fate on that one (in pissy fashion of course). That gifed pass completion was virtually indefensible unless the speed is skewing it, a rather ridiculous example to try and exploit and I'm sure you're well aware of this.

Geno will also prove you dead wrong in his career, all you have to do is watch his combine interview to see what a loser he'll end up being. It is so obvious he is trying to hide his true persona and fake everything for the cameras.
