So Rich Gannon was talking about his days in KC

on his Sirius/XM show with Adam Shine and although I didn't catch the entire segment I did hear him say that he would spend hours as the back-up watching film etc. and Grbac would not even show up and he (Gannon) knew that if Marty ever regretted anything it was not making Grbac be accountable for that.

Okay maybe not current but just found it interesting and thought it was worth sharing. If anyone caught the complete segment maybe you could fill in the gaps of what prompted the comment etc.

This is the first I had heard of this. I remember saying at the time, WTF? Grbac?

Thats just the usual Quarterback Fraternity BS, imo.

Gannon was a dink and dunker with some mobility, he was probably the biggest system-made QB ever in Oakland. I don't think anyone felt like he was going to beat them with his arm. His MVP might have been statistically justified and he might have represented a highwater mark for QBing in Oakland for decades, but that is a low standard.

This was a case of "if you think you have two QBs you really have none"

Stats and Ability be damned, Grbac was anti-clutch, a quitter, and possessed no fire for the game.

Gannon, on the other hand, lacked the physical capabilities of traditional star quarterbacks, but almost always possessed an ability to come through when it mattered most.

Grbac should not have been starting but Gannon is the most overrated QB ever.

Yeah, he was SO clutch in 1998.

He started 10 games and they SUCKED.

His stats are nearly identical to Grbac. Here are their stats with Grbac first. Completions 57-56%. TD% 3.5-4.0. INT% 1.9-2.3. YPA 6.2-6.5. Rate 79.1-79.8. Grbac was throwing the ball more.
