Shawne Merriman is a tool.....

I have respect for Lawrence Taylor, Derrick Thomas, all the guys who did it for so long, and especially Junior Seau, Merriman said recently. I enjoyed watching him as I was growing up. But I'm bigger and I'm stronger and I'm faster, and I can make more things happen.

I play the game to be the best. When I'm all said and done, whatever year it is, I want to be looked at as the best linebacker that ever played and as a linebacker who changed the game. Lawrence Taylor did it at his time. Junior Seau did it at his time. That's my No. 1 goal.

I respect what Junior Seau did for the game. No disrespect to Junior or the fans who love him, but I'm better than Junior.

Yes he really said those things........he really thinks he's that good.

I always thought Junior was overrated. Just because you run around and act like a crazy fool does not a Hall of Famer make. (However, it will cause John Madden to slob all over your knob) Merriman looks like a beast.

At least I can agree with Mecca on this one.

Merriman needs to prove it consistently on the field, and not his mouth.

I always hated Seau whenever the Chiefs played the Chargers, but he is a hell of a football player.

I dont see anything wrong with his comments, confident guy. I would love someone on the Chiefs D to be that confident. He's striving to be the best. Only time will tell.

Merriman just created a huge target on his back with opposing O-linemen. It's going to be funny when he gets owned bad, because of his comments.

It's one thing to think you are good......but you don't say you are better than maybe the best player in the history of your team. Would you like if Derrick Johnson said "frankly Derrick Thomas was a great player but I'm better than he was" after he had played 1 season.
