Miami's Martin leaves team after 'emotional breakdown'

Jonathan Martin leaves Dolphins after 'breakdown'

An unusual situation is unfolding in Miami, where Dolphins right tackle Jonathan Martin has left the team after suffering an "emotional breakdown" this week.

NFL Media's Jeff Darlington reported Wednesday that Martin is currently seeking help with his family after an incident at the team's cafeteria, according to team sources.

Martin is listed on the team's injury report with an illness, and is doubtful to play Thursday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Fox NFL insider Jay Glazer reported that Martin was the victim of a prank at the cafeteria, becoming enraged enough to "smash his food tray on the ground."

The second-year pro has not been with the team since that time. Darlington reports that Martin immediately sought treatment at a local hospital. He has since left the hospital and is now spending time with his family, according to team sources.

Martin opened the season as the Dolphins' replacement for Jake Long at left tackle. He was moved to right tackle when the team acquired Bryant McKinnie via trade last week. Tyson Clabo is expected to start in Martin's place on Thursday.

He threatened to punch people more than once, apparently. If he had actually punched someone, he might well have been suspended or cut. The story on ESPN would be about how he was a troubled player who attacked his own teammate.

Probably Q, but we have a smaller scale version of this dynamic in my immediate family. We all remember every stupid thing the others have said or done and we get on jags of breaking balls over it until we can't see from tears rolling laughing.

Grandma sees this from the outside and gets very irritated about how mean we are to each other.
Iowanian's post specifically mentioning his whiteness.

I fail to see what that has to do with him being the "real victim." I think Iowanian was just pointing out the fact that he is White and his fellow meaners are not.

Seems fairly clear he was the ringleader, which is usually going to mean you get the most attention/focus.

That was a joke. Sorry, I thought that was obvious.

Then again, how is that different than what Hamas intimated?

If you want to attack something, attack the culture. Incognito is just a product of it, a small piece of a much larger dynamic. That doesn't make anything acceptable, but he's clearly been turned into a scapegoat here.
