Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

RG3 can do what Smith can but Smith can't do what RG3 can.

Smith = RG3?

I imagine Smith will look fantastic in throwing drills etc.

physically looks the part
seems intelligent/well-spoken
throws fantastic
productive stats in college

he'll shoot up the draft boards like Griffin imo

Not sure what that has to do with anything.

Smith does not = RG3. RG3 was/is clearly the better QB prospect.

If Geno was as good as you think every single media entity would be hying him up like Luck. The real scouts aren't as enamored with him as you are which is why you are seeing constant reports about no QB at the top spot right now.
Which would be AFTER he won the Heisman, which is what Sac is saying.

I disagree.

RGIII is more athletically gifted, but Smith has superior pocket awareness.

i'm not sure how to explain it

a negative = a positive?

addition by subtraction?

not being the running threat that Griffin is will ultimately make Smith a better NFL QB?

not running forces a QB to focus on learning defenses

not running usually makes a QB more durable

see what i'm saying?

I would say the only advantage RG3 had (as a prospect) over Smith was his ability to run, which was not the reason he was drafted where he was. Smith may actually be more polished as a player in the pocket (although Griffin was very, very polished himself in that sense - there's too much talk about his running). I think the main difference in the two at this point is the team record, which colors the "pedigree". WVU's defense manages to make a stop in a couple of the shootouts, and we're talking about Smith as a Heisman candidate, or a Heisman winner, and his draft status is in absolutely no question.

But, hey, I've been wrong before.

Real scouts or idiotic draftniks/sports guys that have probably seen as much Geno as the casual fan?

And don't start the Kiper bullshit because I'll point you in the direction of where he said Jamarcus Russell was on the same level as Elway.

And I'll also remind you of the Manning/Leaf debate where most teams had them neck and neck. (I believe Marty once stated that they had Leaf over Manning.)

Sorry, but I've watched a lot of Geno and he's got a lot of the same skill set/tools/talent as the following guys:

Warren Moon and Aaron Rogers

Same size, same arm, same pocket presence, etc.

And, oddly enough, both of those guys got passed over in the draft. Moon for an entire draft in what has become the greatest draft snafu of all time and Rogers by 23 other teams - all of which who would love to have that chance back. (I still remember watching as the Chiefs pick came up and saying that I can't believe we will get a chance at Rogers. Green was at the tail end of his career and Huard was a stiff. It was like ****ing Christmas that this guy dropped right into our laps. And then they take a strongside linebacker that couldn't take on and shed blocks. **** you Carl Peterson.)

I guess I don't see the superior pocket awareness.

RG3 was always eyes down field and extending plays by scrambling in college, too. What sets RG3 apart is his athletic ability. Smith simply can't touch RG3's ability, it's not who he is.

In the end we are trying to compare who was/is the better prospect.

Is there a single professional, that isn't emotionally attached to the situation, that regards Smith as high of a prospect as RG3?
