I'm not sure if things have changed significantly in the past year or so or if I'm just becoming more aware of it lately. It seems that with more technology at our finger tips it is getting much more difficult to maintain an in person conversation.

I can understand business meetings where others have important issues to stay on top of, but if someone schedules a meeting with me, I feel obligated to give them my attention during that scheduled time and usually expect the same within reason. It's pretty tough to believe someone is being attentive if they're checking facebook or snap chat.

Lately in person conversations are tougher to have, let alone dinner. We've all seen it, 4-6 people at a restaurant table with 4-6 faces glued to phone screens instead of talking.

I read of a new "game" that I think is a great idea, at least for personal/friend meetings.

Cell Phone Roulette.

Smartphone Roulette The rules are simple:

1. When you sit down, place your phones on the table, face down. You may stack them if you'd like to be extra extreme, though this is not required.

2. Nobody is allowed to touch their phone—not even if it rings, vibrates, or chimes.

3. If you check your phone before the meal is over, you pay the entire check. No exceptions. Even if you just lift that phone ever so slightly to see who texted you. Your treat.

People need to be more interesting than Candy Crush...Most people aren't and don't supply enough entertainment and joy than Candy Crush.

My family goes out for dinner frequently. We've never seen anything remotely close to what that story is claiming.

Agreed. Not only do they look like complete dorks, it's annoying as hell to others around you when your having a conversation on there.

It really varies from person to person on what they can or can't do while talking on a cell phone. There seems to be a lot of people out there that can't talk on a phone and do something else at the same time. If there is some slap dick doing 15 miles per hour in a 35 nine times out of ten they have a cell phone pasted to their ear.

Some people suffer the same brain numbing when in a shopping center. It happens all the time, I'm at the store and some zombie will be sitting there in the middle of the aisle blocking everyone else rambling on their phone, completely oblivious to the people around them.

Eating establishments are another place that people seem to go brain dead. I can understand if it's Burger King or some other dive like that, but if I'm eating at a high end restaurant trying to have a conversation, the last thing I want to hear is some douche bag running their mouth about how aunt Marge is having issues with her husband again, how little Johnny took 5th in the soccer match, or how the dogs mange is kicking in again.

Heh, I would never take it that far, but I have had some interesting conversations with other drivers suggesting where they can hang their phone.

Yeah, that is a great feature with this place. That and hovering over the thread to see the first few lines. I can't tell you how often I have tried to do that on other sites only to be disappointed.
