He wouldn't be making 5 million, except that he's on a team that needs to hedge its QB bets. Until Bilgewater is ready they have only Christian Ponder, and he isn't going to win many games.

You get paid not only according to your skills, but sometimes according to how hard it is to find/replace your skills and experience. Cassel benefits from the latter.
