Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

The team wasn't going from 2-14 to Super Bowl contender over night. You're so tired of winning 10 games a year when the Chiefs from 2000-2013 when Dorsey/Reid came, had 10 wins 3 times.

Alex Smith wasted time, but you were firmly happy hitching your wagon to Geno Smith, who would have wasted a similar amount of time and this end result would still be the same. The Chiefs finally get their young potential franchise QB, which this regime was always going to get when they found the prospect they loved.

It also clearly wasn't going to win the Super Bowl with Alex Smith. He had every advantage possible in 11 and couldn't get it done.

The combo of that obvious likely outcome and the fact the Chiefs had been hammering the same ****ing door for
30 years is what made it so frustrating.

At least if they had taken a shot in 13 with Gene, or the year after with Bridgewater or Carr, etc. there would have been some unknown.

Every advantage possible, hmmmm.

- yr 1 scheme, where their best weapon stated that he was so confused by the playbook, he wanted to quit. Coming right out of a coaching lockout in the offseason prior.

- a very poor pass pro OL

- would be a stretch to even call the WR corps above average.

I don't look at it like a waste of time at all, actually. We went from the THE WORST franchise in the league - including the Browns - to being a perennial doubt digit wins playoff team. I think stability counts for a lot in the NFL, and we finally have it.

Smith was a stabilizing presence. He has had some very good moments in KC. While he simply is not good enough to get you over the hump in the playoffs, I will not complain about any situation that lands us a first round bye followed by a first round QB four months later.

It would have been better to have found our QB last year, I think, so as to walk on Smith now. I just don't hate him - can't, really - because I am too giddy about Mahomes.

We have different definitions of what a fan is. I accept both of the following. You do not.

I believe any person that puts one team's success above all others is a fan of that team. Even if that person switches teams every damn year... so long as he wants that team to win... derives enjoyment and excitement from that team's success above all others.. he or she is indeed a fan of that team.

You believe any person that stays with a team.. for life.. no matter what.. is the only real definition of a team fan.

To each his own. thanks above for giving man free will.
True. One is a lifelong fan...one is a bandwagon fan. I can NOT believe I agreed with Sandy Vag.....

I support anything Reid and Dorsey do when it comes to the QB position. I believe in them. If they decide to start Patrick next year then I'm fine with it. If they decide to wait longer I'm fine with that too. If they decide to start him sooner that is fine too.

I'm not going to lose any sleep if Alex Smith is our QB for another year or two. He's not that bad despite what many of you QB gurus claim. If he was Reid wouldn't have traded for him in the first place.

Plenty of other areas for this team to improve other than the QB position to get us over that hump and into the SB. Despite what many of you on here may think, football isn't an individual sport, it's a team game.

I don't hate Smith either. How interested would you be if you took a beautiful girl on a date, and were likely to spend a hundred bucks on the date, but knew you weren't going to get any because she isn't into dudes.

I dont disagree with starting Mahomes when he is ready but by the estimations of those more in tbe know than me...that time isnt now, and its probably not this season. No one sane is suggesting to cut alex smith right now.
What? You bolded the word 'now' in YOUR post. I didn't do that.

Fan is short for 'fanatic'.

Sandy is a fan of Alex Smith, not the Chiefs.

At best he's a chiefs follower due to his fandom of Alex Smith.

He is not of our tribe though.
